First part how does Melvin Ray have a division 1 scholarship.. serious question. He is beyond awful.. Jeremy Johnson. Pretty simple can't win with him.. he is a bum, if we don't get a qb.. next year will be a repeat

Ray played hard all year. If there was no one better that is bad recruiting or player development. Not Ray's fault. But crick JJ he is a pussy

Our WRs have regressed all year it seems like. Doesn't matter if we have Jeremy Johnson, Sean White, Clint Moseley, or Peyton fricking Manning in his prime under center, we won't win any close game if our WRS keep dropping passes or don't finish running out their routes.

What is his experience with WRs throughout his entire career?

No one ever crowned Craig as a WR guru. He was brought in the recruit primarily and it shows.

My thoughts exactly. I haven't been impressed by a WRS ability to catch the ball consistently while covered since he's been here. Any time one of then catches the ball while covered it seems like it's a fluke.

He would be much better off coaching QBS or just hanging out in the AD to chill with recruits when they come through.

Last year everyone was mad "Gus played favorites" because Ray didn't get enough pt. Now he does and see what happens? Maybe there's a reason certain guys haven't/aren't playing much.

Melvin has been a huge disappointment. Dude has the hands of Countess.

JJ just sucks.

Ray took that drop to heart.

Hopefully, next year the WR can make the catches.

Of course, we also need a qb who can consistently get it to them...

Hope we keep that Davis kid from Georgia.

I agree he is nothing more than another Trooper. A guy who can recruit but can't develop a wr to save his life.

Yep and every coach was over there patting him on the back telling him it was OK.

Sorry but his arse should have been chewed.

You would of thought Ray was an all american preseason.

Just Gus playing favorites over talent.

Darius Slayton would run circles around Ray

Dude is in his mid 20s. Pathetic if they were coddling him after that drop. He deserves to get chewed. If he can't handle that as a grown man then I dont want him on my team

Not defending him. The truth is he is just not good at catching the ball. This is his last year though so it is not like I think there is much good in harping on him.

WE had the worst possible combo of bad qb and wr play this year.
We tend to make a bad pass, followed by a bad drop.

I doubt we see JJ again next year either.

Oh. Well lets just field a team of try-hards and that should work out well for us.

This is a major university football program. You want to put on the AU jersey you better be prepared to deliver. Take your "try hard" to some other school.

Nice Edit guy. Better wake up early on Monday to make an online order on a ton of participation trophies. That way everyone will feel appeciated for trying hard.

Ray, like Stovall, had in his contract that baseball would pay his way for college. Ray is pretty much doing this just to be a part of competitive sports again and on his own dime. Let's not bash him when it's not his fault that his raw talents are good enough to be on our field because the rest of our WR's suck.
And that includes Darius Slayton. If he was any good, his redshirt would have been burned after Duke was kicked off.
