Considering we have played some of the best defenses the game has to offer, we may actually have a decent offense hidden away.

It has potential. We have to stop with the bullshite trickery that gets us behind the sticks and wastes real opportunities. We aren't as explosive as we have been and need every down to matter.

Agreed - (lies, damn lies and statistics), but 4 games in, the going should get easier

Scoring Defense (Nationally)
5) Clemson (11)
16) Bama 14.8
18) Texas AM (16)
21) LSU 16.8
28) Auburn (18.8)
51) MSU
65)Vandy
67) Arkansas
84) Ole Miss
84) UGA
111) Arkie State

Those defenses are partially ranked high because they played our offense. The circle of stats. Lol

I think our O has played well...except for the first game.

We just need to figure out a way to stick it in the end zone.

Thanks for the input Mrs. Malzahn.

When you last the nation in run on first down and passes on 3rd down, your O is not good. But we have passes the 4 game mark, so Gus should be able to figure out what we can do as on offense. It takes him 4 games to figure it out.

These defensive statistics are great for Clemson, T A&M and LSU mostly because Auburn makes up 1/4 of the stat and Auburn's offense can't score TDs.

Their defensive stat rankings will go down as the year proceeds and Auburn's impact gets diluted out.

(With math for 1/4 corrected as duly noted.)

1/4 my man, not 1/3.

The three power 5 schools we've played to date all have NFL type talent on the DL... our rushing numbers will likely go up as we face defenses at MSU, Ark, Ole Miss, Vandy, and even UGA.

Granted, most of those are on the road, so we'll see.

The offense is bad. But it's not because of lack of talent. It's inconsistency at the QB position and failure to finish drives. We absolutely blow when it comes to red zone offense. If we can fix that problem alone, we'll be much better offensively.

Yes, but we should have some NFL talent as well, right....

We simply havent been good on offense since begining the 2014 season

This is basically all that needs to be said.

The play calling is dog shite, and our OTs are bad. But if the QB and the skill players are good, then the offense can't really be bad, can it?

Pretty interesting, considering the fact that in each case our offense scored as much or more than what their defense has given up on average.

Take away their games vs AU, and their defensive stats improve.

Scoring defense including AU game:
Clemson 11
TAMU 16
LSU 16.5

Scoring defense excluding AU game:
Clemson 10.3
TAMU 16
LSU 16.3

Total defense including AU game:
Clemson 218.5
TAMU 390.8
LSU 341.3

Total defense excluding AU game:
Clemson 204
TAMU 388
LSU 325.7

So your premise has it exactly backwards.

ETA: I agree with the OP in that our offense has been pretty ineffective. But statistically, playing us has hurt the three teams mentioned, not made them look better.

We knew the month of September would be brutal, 2-2 is not bad especially considering the fact we could easily be 3-1 or 4-0 in that stretch.

for September...

Back in August, I thought we'd be 2-2 now although I thought we would beat Texas A&m and lose to LSU.

My updated thinking is that we are heavy underdogs to Bama and Ole Miss and heavy favorite against Vandy with toss ups against Miss St., Arky and UGA.

Translates to either 6-6 or 7-5 record

I think that Vandy and Miss. St. should be guarenteed. Georiga is a toss up for sure, but we should win as the offense develops as well with the defense. We have the ability to win 8 games this year, considering our two losses were to top 10 teams.

Yeah I think it's more likely we win 8 than 6

Georgia's offense will improve as well with a frosh QB... we'll be favored over state, but it'll be 3 to 4 max IMO.
