Mason was a pretty solid back in a terrible offense. A 1000 yard season doesn't mean what it used to and Mason is no Bo Jackson. If that is all the OP wanted to prove, he should have just said it. However, there is no joke, Mason actually rushed for slightly more than 1000 yards.

I like Mason and think he is a solid back but he isn't top tier yet. Hopefully he breaks into this category this year.

He is a tween between the Dyer/Tate roles and OMAC role which scares me

He played in many games where we were being blown out therefore more passes, therefore less runs, therefore less yards for mason. He got 1000 yards while having only three games where he carried the ball 20 times with a max of 22 on the season. He also had three games where he got less than 10 carries. He had less than 20 carries in 3/4 of our games. All the while he'd averaged 5.9 ypc behind an awful offensive line. That's pretty damn impressive.

I agree with this ^. He didn't show many anything spectacular to get excited about, but at the same time he doesn't get tired and runs hard which you expect from any back. I think this year he will quickly be passed by as fan favorite to someone else. Artis-Payne or one of the new guys.

I do think Mason will look better in this offense instead of pro-style

I wasn't even aware Mason was the type of back that would garner enough carries to get 1000 yards when he arrived at AU. We took a change of pace back and made him our every down back. That right there is your problem.

Yes, nothing to do with O-line play coupled with a defunct offensive coordinator. He had 5.9 YPC, better than Dyer in his sophomore year(5.1).

Oh, and you're retarded.. I care nothing about your general prickish nature - I'm the same way - I just find you mentally weak in your posts. You try way too hard.

I felt the same way about Dyer the majority of the time.. That dude was like Omac a lot of the time between the tackles.

I wasn't knocking Mason at all, I think he is very decent back. With that said he isn't going to wow us like a Yeldon type player. I still hate we didn't get Greg Bryant. He's by far my favorite back in this class.

Leaving aside the original trollster, I think Mason is not just good but excellent. I don't know that we could improve much on Mason by taking another back. And that includes #4 in red.

You put him behind bamas OL and he'd be one of the top 3 rbs in the league

Put Christopher Reeves (living or dead...doesn't really matter) behind Bama's OL and he'd be one of the top 3 RBs in the league.

Mason was one of the few bright spots last year. I still can't figure out why the coaches misplayed him so poorly. After every good run they pulled him out of the game and would run that stupid speed sweep with OMac for negative 3 yards.

Miss State = 8 carries
LSU = 9 carries
Arkansas = 6 carries
Tx A&M = 12 carries
Georgia = 11 carries

If he had gotten the carries we would be talking about a 1300 yard rusher.

Not bad for the shite show of a line blocking (cough, cough) for him. I am sure 473 yards would come easy to such a stud as yourself, Amirite? As always from me to you...STFU
