Lets talk Linebackers

Guys, this may be the best group of linebackers we have seen at Auburn since having a good defense was a given.
Tre Williams - 5 star talent. Tackles exceptionally well, has the speed to run sideline to sideline, good in coverage and is the vocal leader of our defense. Tre has been patiently waiting behind a shittastic Frost for years. Now its his time to shine...and shine he will.
Deshaun Davis - I think this kid may end up being that diamond in the rough signee that Tubs was famous for. Davis should have been on every SEC teams' radar during recruitment, and would have been if not for an injury that sidelined him for his entire senior year. Before his injury, Davis amassed 138 tackles, 15 TFL, 6 forced fumbles as a Junior and earned All-State and All-Region as a Sophomore AND Junior. Davis was also named 2012 Regional Linebacker of the Year. That's with 5 star Tre Williams playing alongside him. Known as a thumper and gap filler, Davis has the instincts and aggressiveness to be a breakout player for Auburn this year.
Darrell Williams - This kid is probably the most fundamentally sound Linebacker we have signed since the Tubs era. He is almost always in position, tackles extremely well and has the ability to play in space and....he is only a Sophomore . With a little game experience, he will be a fan favorite before year end.
TJ Neal - Veteran transfer with good instincts for the position. Neal is still adjusting to the speed of the SEC, but will be a solid contributor throughout the season.
Montavious Atchinson - Its a rarity in this day and age that we see 40 year old freshman contribute in college athletics. His maturity, speed and versatility will come in handy in certain defensive packages.
Cameron Toney - FCS contributor and Special teams
Richard McBryde -FCS contributor and Special teams
Tre Threat - FCS contributor, special teams or redshirt

Imho, what will make the LB's better this year is good DL play. You get that and err'body looks good. But yeah ourlinebackers are better.

Looking at this group is amazing and it wasn't but a few years ago Jake Holland was the best we had. Gus' coaches definitely out recruited Chiz at this position.

You sure do have a lot of info on players that have not played a lot or any for AU.

I feel like this entire thread was to put in that Atkinson 40 years old joke

quote:Solid. Huge asset.
Tre Williams
quote:Best known for tackling Aubie after Bham Bowl. He loves AU. Don't care about his high school stats. Everyone at this level has those.
Deshaun Davis

Darrell Williams

TJ Neal
I haven't watched much Illini football and I know many here haven't either. We'll see how he holds up.
quote:Practice warrior is all we know.
Montavious Atchinson
quote:Tweener that doesn't fit in our D. Should've played in a 3-4. Certainly not an FCS talent though as he had offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State, and Arkansas.
Cameron Toney
quote:Young and haven't seen him play.
Richard McBryde
quote:You call Deshaun Davis a potential breakout player yet you write this guy off before he finishes his first fall camp? That's dumb.
Tre Threat

quote:Dont feel that Tre Threat will get any snaps this year unless its against our weaker opponents and special teams. More likely he redshirts. Not dumb

I mean, lets be honest. With our starting LB line up, it will be difficult for any true freshman to get reps. Fully. Loaded.

I think you are misunderstanding what he is saying. How I took it is: He is not calling anyone "FCS talent" he was saying Tobey, McBride, and Threat are probably going to play only against FCS teams, on special teams, or in the case of Threat, to redshirt.
I could be wrong but thats how I took it.

After his reply I agree but it was worded weirdly
