Not afraid of Saban. Great recruiter. The only coach to make UT respectable since the 90s. Has a lot of HC experience.
Slight risk of getting the death penalty but hey we're best when we're flirting with disaster.

I'm in. We could do much worse than Lane Kiffin...
His year at Tennessee was so-so, but he was only 34 years old.
He had a pretty solid tenure at USC considering the NCAA sanctions. I think they pulled the trigger on him way too quick.
He was incredible as Bama's OC with what he had at QB. He turned Blake Sims, Jake Coker, and Jalen Hurts into 2 SEC titles and a NC.
It's still early, but it looks like he has flipped a 3-9 team into a C-USA contender in a year. He brought in an awesome/sketchy recruiting class, but it seems to be working.

I have no doubt in his coaching abilities. There's some baggage though.

Lane Kiffin could not handle the direct onslaught from the Alabama media. You have to have someone that isn't going to be easily strung through the mud throughout the year as the good ole boys at al.com and elsewhere will be constantly throwing shite to mess with our recruiting.
Or maybe he'd be perfect for it.
On another note, I just wouldn't trust him to not bolt once he had a little success. He seems more like a big city guy than a quaint village in southeast Alabama.

Kiffin is a really good offensive mind plus he trolls the hell out of Saban so a win-win.
