I just don't see him as a every-down back no matter how you look at it. His skill set is not suited for it. I'll look for him to do great things in the slot, as a change-of-pace, as a receiver at cetera, but not as an every-down tailback. I hope Pettway is better than advertised.

So we are writing him off as an every down back after one season? That doesn't seem hasty

I'm not writing him off, I just don't see him as an every down back, because I don't think we recruited him to be an every-down back he was thrust into that role.

Okay, so....tell me exactly what about his skill set doesn't translate to being an every down back.

His frame is not suited for it. Some might have said the same about Cadillac Williams, touche, but he also had Ronnie Brown sparing him alone.

I hope I'm wrong and the kid is durable but he reminds me of Mario Fannin.

If Mario didn't fumble so damn much he could have played every down.

We've gone over how full bullshite this argument is already. Here is a list of current -NFL RBs plus Kenny Irons whose combine weights are roughly the same or less than KJ

This whole KJ frame argument is dumb as frick

quote:

Good NFL RBs with similar Ht/wt combine measurement

Arian Foster: 6'1 215lb
Kenny Irons: 5'11 205lb
Darren McFadden: 6'2 205 lb
Lamar Miller 5'11 212lb
Chris Johnson 5'11 203lb
Lesean McCoy 5'10 198lb
Jamal Charles 6'1 200lb
Adrian Peterson 6'2 217

What are you talking about? There haven't been any advertisements on Pettway - he played FB last year. By all accounts he's been a beast this fall in the RB position.

At least you could see the argument with Tre. Not sure how a 6' 210 kid could ever be small frame

this doesn't match up with this

he has played a grand total of one season & you have already decided that he can't be our every down back

Not sure where you are getting this from

This thread is two seasons too soon and likely incorrect.

this thread is dumb and you should feel bad for posting it. KJ has shown nothing but brilliance every time he carried the ball last year as a FRESHMAN. He will continue to show that this year, in his SECOND year

Pump the brakes there Dale Earnhardt, KJ was good for a FR but I wouldn't call 4 YPC "brilliant"

i wasn't saying his stats were awesome, but he had some runs that were freaking awesome, so clearly he's brilliant.

This exactly. Fanin was a fumble machine, that's why he wasn't an every down back.

Well, that and he kept injuring his shoulder, which made him start running a lot more timid.

TBH, don't remember the shoulder injury, just his habit of putting the ball on the ground.
