Wasn't it Lashlee's decision to go after Franklin?

We didn't need him. We have the best offense in the SEC.

Evans didn't enroll until summer. They wanted a guy who was gonna go through spring.

Or maybe Evans just wanted to go play Fuentes at VT?... not everything has to be a coaching frick up.

With a competent QB, we statistically did.

With real depth and a 2nd competent QB to come off the bench if the starter got hurt then we might be still holding on to that top spot in the stays.

Jesus you're one salty irrational bastard here lately. Do men's hormones go crazy at middle age like women's do with menopause?

We couldnt score TDs against defenses with a pulse and now you're suggesting we had the best offense in the SEC.
"Bowl-dozing" this thread with stupidity.

Says more about the shitastic SEC offenses than Auburns potential with a good QB

The offenses were really bad but young: at least three true freshman QBs ended up starting games this season plus Fitzgerald at Moo state.
Based on stats and actual results of the games, I'd say Bama and Ole Miss had better offenses than Auburn this season.
What is surprising is the defense of the middle tier SEC West teams. What the heck happened to that land shark defense?

After the Ole Miss game, last game where White was healthy, we were averaging 507 yards per game (#1 in the SEC) and 36 points per game (#2 in the SEC)

Stats don't lie. We were rolling and hot, and if you Google some articles from that time just about every national analyst agreed we had the best offense.

You can't put the Clemson game on White, and Gus went full retard with the play calls against a&m and LSU to the point that he gave up calling the plays himself. After that we made the defense we played have no pulse. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall Arkansas coming into our game playing well on defense.

Yes stats do lie. Our offensive performance against the contenders proves that our offense was crap. Anybody can look awesome against the teams that are forced into submission.
We scored:
0 TDs against Clemson: Lol
0 TDs against Bama- Roughly 125 total yards all game if not for JF3 anomaly pass
0 TDs against LSU- Lot of yards, no paydirt.
1 TD against Georgia- Lot of nothing.
2 TDs against TAM- Lot of completions and frustration. SW benched.

We scored a shite ton of points and picked up a lot of yardage against these shitty defenses:
Ole Miss- defense wasn't even in the top hundred at one point.
Arkansas- Pretty sure this was a junior high defense
Miss State- Offense quit after half time. Coaches would rather give carries to third string RB than to develop the second string QB.

Biggest abomination of game management and play calling ever witnessed at this level.

Jeremy Johnson as the QB. No healthy running backs. One of the best defenses in CFB history. One team has done anything against them all year and that was before they woke up. You expexted what exactly?

quote:

1 TD against Georgia- Lot of nothing

A QB without a throwing shoulder who hadn't practiced in 2 weeks and 1 RB who was 50% healthy

quote:

0 TDs against LSU- Lot of yards, no paydirt.

2 TDs against TAM- Lot of completions and frustration. SW benched

The play calling in these games went beyond full retard to the point where Gus was forced to remove himself from play calling duties. Against LSU we moved the ball and should've scored plenty of TDs but Gus was going for the title of worst red zone coach of all time. He succeeded.

Look, nobody ever said we had the best offense all season long. Lanier's comment is because he's butt hurt that Sean White didn't call his daughter back after he took her home from Skybar, and I pointed out to him that with SW at QB we had statistically the best offense in the SEC. Which is true, and all the crying in the world can't change that.

We had some low points as you noted, but when this offense was peaking nobody except Bama was going to be able to stop us.

I am not the one here that can not carry on a conversation without taking personal shots when people do not agree with me so I am not sure I am the one with hormone problems.

Your problem is, you want it both ways. You want to praise Whites play in games that we won regardless if his play warrants it then swing around and blame everyone else (coaches, play calling, injuries, offense line) when we lost games.

I wont carry on this conversation with you. I think the point has been made 1000 times. We could not make more than one TD per game against any defense that was decent. We ran up scores against teams that either sucked or we had down big time. This offense was horrendous against LSU, Clemson, UGA, Bama, Texas AM and Vandy. Im sorry man. No stat you can give me will convince me that this was anything close to the "Best offense in the SEC". Or best offense anywhere. It was bad. I dont care how many yards we racked up total or how bad the other SEC teams were. It was a 8-4 offense and it was one second from a 7-5 offense. It lived on the back of what was the best defensive performance we have had in a long time as well as a league that was total shite this year

Even with all those things helping it, we still barely won 8 games. 5 of those 8 teams we beat were either OOC teams or teams that didnt even have a .500 record.

It was shite man. Forget those big stats and look at it for what it produced

I know we were running roughshod over a lot of teams in that 6 game stretch minus LSU which kicked it off, but I don't think our offense ever peaked. Still had no deep ball, didn't have any go-to receivers, and we already had our tendencies out there for DCs to gameplan around. In the games that we beat teams to a pulp, we were fortunate to have our strengths( the running game) going toe to toe with the opponent's weaknesses which was stopping the run.

Precisely. And it seemed like the coaching staff didn't know how to handle not being productive on the ground. If we didn't get 3+ yards on the first down run up the middle, Gus and Rhett panicked and switched QB's/deployed the whirly bird/ran a middle school hard-wired receiver route a DC with half a brain could spot.
