Itching to go to Baton Rouge this year.
Never seen MY tigers win a road game vs LSU although I have been there several times (long ago).

I have not been in over a decade so I am looking for a few simple pointers.

Where should I park?
Where should I eat?
Where should I buy my cigar?
Anything else not to miss?

Next to the fire station. That way your car only burns a little bit when it gets set on fire.

If you like a little gambling or just want the convenience to campus and good food / drink then stay at L'auberge.

You can take their shuttle to the stadium and not have the headache of parking.

Their restaurants are off the chain (Stadium, 18 Steak and even the buffet is quite good for buffet food).

If you want another really good restaurant in town, I recommend Juban's.

Habana on Perkins has the best quality selection of cigars.

Wife and I lived there for 5 years (2008-2013) to be close to her family in the NOLA area. You will have fun down there. It's a great place to visit but I can't imagine a worse place in this great nation to live, mostly due to the incompetence, corruption and rude people.

Thanks!

That is helpful.

I am waiting to see how both teams look this weekend before making a final commitment. But I want to believe we can win and I don't want to drive 12 hours total to see us lose again.

(I know no game between these two teams is ever a given)

Juban's is pretty fancy. Not really a game day type place to eat. For gameday, Walkons is really good. Also, the Chimes is pretty good. When I go (lived in Baton Rouge from 2007-2010), I usually park near the lakes - its only about a mile and a half to the stadium from there, but there are LOTS of parking options.

Go. Their coaches suck and it isn't getting better.

That's what I'm worried about as well

In regards to staying in Baton Rouge, there's a number of newer nice hotels in downtown Baton Rouge as well (Hampton, Hilton , Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Express).... the Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet is also a very nice hotel

3rd Street in downtown Baton Rouge also has a pretty good night life with various bars with live music, restaurants, etc.

If you have any specific questions Baton Rouge related just let me know

Spot on!

One restaurant I forgot to mention that is a must whether it's this trip or another one down there: Ruffino's

A great place!

Mike Anderson's on Lee Drive, near campus, is also a very popular seafood spot. But just a side note about Mike Anderson's, they also have a location outside of Baton Rouge in Gonzales... the same exact food as the Baton Rouge location, but typically not much of a wait
