Is there a chance our 2016 offense looks like 2006 Arkansas

CGM primarily played two QBs -- Casey Dick and Mustain -- that year and neither had good completion percentages (49 and 52 respectively). His best receiver didn't eclipse 1000 yards (962) and the receiver with the second most number of yards only had 235. However, he had two 1000+ yard RBs in McFadden and Felix Jones that year which was good enough for #3 in the country in rushing offense.

I don't remember much about Arkansas' season that year.

Could we see two AU RB's with 1000+ rushing yards this season?

We don't have a McFadden or Felix Jones caliber RB on the team.

You don't think KP or KJ have the potential?

We definitely could but let's remember both of those guys were RD1 draft picks and we will face some stout defenses this year

He also butted heads with Nutt all season long on offensive strategy, even revealing to the press late in the season that Nutt had dumbed down his offense.

I don't think we have a WR who can compare to Marcus Monk in '06, either.

Do you remember how good those two were? That's a lofty expectation.

That was an awful game at home. We were really really good that year (#2 in the country at the time) but Arkansas beat the crap out of us. Pissed me off so bad. We only lost 2 games the whole year and both at home.

I do and I realize that. From all the reports though about our current RBs attitudes and the success Horton's had and the questions at QB I wonder if Gus' game plan allows for that. Also will help having someone who played in Gus' system coaching the WRs

I certainly think KP could have 1000+ and KJ 1000+ multipurpose.

With JF3 speed, Gus should really run the triple option. Make it a bitch for other defenses to prepare for us

This is the OTHER side of Tuberville that I will never forget, mostly because of this game.

Yeah Tubbs at his finest. That Arky game was a morning game IIRC. The second Loss was to Georgia who'd just been curbstomped by Kentucky the precious week. I love Tubbs and all but God he had some unexplainable bad losses

If we ran a shotgun triple option with pass option we'd be unstoppable

Yep, and guess who we beat by ten the next week after Arkansas... The otherwise undefeated and eventual national champions, Florida.

I know. Tubbs was so damn frustrating at times. But his peaks and valleys were nowhere near what we've experienced since 2010

We have obviously had higher peaks and lower lows with Chizik and Malzahn but they were moreso spread out. Peak years, Excruciatingly painful years. But with Tuberville we would have roller coaster game weeks lol. The peaks and troughs were closer together. Lose miserably one, beat the eventual national champions the next week. Since then, our seasons are more like all or nothing

I don't think we have a Darren McFadden on the team right now. Maybe I am wrong (I hope I am), but I think the comparison to 2006 Arky isn't a fair one.
