Does Gus get another year to turn things around?

He isn't getting fired after this year. I don't trust that Auburn would hire a better coach to replace him regardless.

Most likely he will.

In 2012, I don't think it was necessarily the 3 win season that got Chizik fired, but the fact he lost the team—it was evident the team wasn't trying anymore.

I hope the same thing doesn't happen this season.

I would think we could surely get someone better. Player development this year has been even worse than the Chizik era.

If he goes winless in conference like Chizik did what will Jacobs do? I think he stays because of the buyouts. This program is trending in the wrong direction and it started last year.

As much as I bitch I absolutetly LOATHE the generation we live in where if you don't win a championship in 3 years you have to go.
We have an SECC and a BCSNCG app. under gus. I would surely hope we give him a couple years to learn from his now obvious flaws.
I can't see another coach that would be 'available' soon that would put us in a better situation.
Social media has absolutely destroyed this country. Football is no exception.

Now get off my lawn.

Only San Jose st and Idaho are winnable with this bunch.
Put in Tucker Tuberville.....can't be worse than the shite show that Kiehl Frazier Jr. #6 is
putting on. And coaches are gonna keep him in.... ?????

I'm not sure that you can say that. This year doesn't really have the same feel as the 2012 team. I didn't feel like the 2012 team even ha the potential to be a top 25 team. I feel like this year could have been very different if JJ hadn't played like he has. As extreme as it sounds, he has played badly enough to affect the team in a severe way. Can you imagine how different things would feel if the offense had come out clicking, with him making reads and throws?

Unless he puts us on probation or serious sanctions during his tenure, we really need to ride out his contract to 2019 or 2020. We need stability more than anything if we want to get better. Bringing in another coach isn't going to make us better any time soon.

This. Teams give up on coaches way too soon in today's game. Gus has proven he can win in this league. I really hope he learns and works out some of the flaws he has, but give him a couple years and I believe we'll be a very consistent team in the SEC.

Which is exactly what a lot of people said during the Shula era at Alabama.

Ok, it's probably better to blow the fricking coaching staff up at the first sign of trouble. Who the hell would want to coach here after Auburn fires a coach 2 years after winning a national championship and another one two years after going to a national championship?

What coach goes winless in the league 2 years after winning and 2 years after playing in the national championship?

Hugh Freeze is having more sustained success than Malzahn is. You know why? Freeze has some studs on defense and he recruits defense. Tony Bridges was once committed to us. He left for Ole Miss. Freeze has no problem having a good offense and a good defense.

We claim to be a top 6 program in the conference. How long has it been since Auburn has sustained back to back 10 win seasons?

They seem to breaking mentally - like there is too much pressure. Gus and Will are folding under the Hype. They are joined by their QB and broke down defensive end. The coaching looks poor on defense. Should be better. Potential is there but the team looks lost. They need a game where they can catch a break. Dak is going to be tough. No LB's.

Really? Cause I have not seen them in a National Championship game

Everyone needs to take a step back. Gus is not going anywhere this year. We are missing play makers at key positions.
