I understand Robinson leaving, get the feeling Gus had little confidence in Thompson.

Thompson sounds a little salty about Gus telling him he's "going to do great" before the bowl game.

I can understand that. Thats what you tell someone clearly in over their head or have jitters

Well that's really what you tell a child when they ride a bike for the first time without training wheels, not what you would tell a coach with almost thirty years of experience. So I can understand that.

And then he holds one of the best offenses to barely 200 yards.

Then he must be a 13yr old girl. Grown men don't get their feelings hurt by what people say.

1. They're gone. Good riddance.
2. If Lance was upset by a comment from Gus, he should grow a pair.
3. Robinson made a great move.
4. Gus made quality hires. There is a reason Steele is still around the league and is so well respected.

I just keep thinking of that 70-0 arse rape that West Virginia put on Clemson in the Naranja bowl a couple years ago when Steele was the DC there.

I happened to be headed to Ft Lauderdale the day of the game and headed down from Atlanta, the clemson people were all in Orange and making Mega Noise and chirping how they were going to kill WV. (they seriously reminded me of Bama fans.) There were like TWO west virginia women on the plane dressed in blue and gold.

I had to fly back to ATL the next day and the same assholes were on the plane. Not one had on orange and none of them said SHITE. but those two women were there. They had PLENTY to say. Was classic.

Thats Kevin Steeles D.

Highly debatable

Everyone needs a desperate last option hire.

Thompson did a good job in the bowl and should have let that stand as his statement. He came across like a little bitch even though he may be correct. May be why he doesn't get to be a DC?

gus didnt want him here.

maybe it was capability. maybe it was recruiting. maybe he just wasnt a good fit. steele may suck but it is at least a little consoling to know steele was chosen over them rather than a last ditch effort.

I think that's what it boils down to. Seemed like we were looking at anyone but him.

As much as I wanted him, I'm not at practice everyday and I'm not in the office with Gus, so as fans we have to default to the head coach and hope he's making a good decision with the larger amount of information he has.

Thompson was brought to auburn by Muschamp... I got no problem with us looking in another direction...
And to be honest, I'm cautiously optimistic with he defensive hired we've made.
