We have a HC who has been average at best the last few years. And the admin/fans dont even trust him to hire an OC. How much longer can that type of relationship work? Maybe 2 or 3 years with more 8-4 type of seasons. If the admin/fans dont trust the HC he has to go. We could have Chip Kelly tomorrow or we can wait 3-4 years and get an unknown.

Chip Kelly would prefer to stay in the NFL (even as an OC), and I'm not sure he'd want to come down South even if he did want to return to college. Your entire narrative is teetering on that.

If you look at Auburn historically we average at best 8 wins. Changing coaches is expensive and it is difficult to find the right one. Which coach not named Saban in the SEC west would you switch with?

We should all pray that Gus succeeds.

I am pulling for him. We are known to have a quick trigger finger with firing HC's. That has hurt us in the past, IMO.

So how many "average" HCs have played for a natty lately anyway?

Chip Kelly is no better than Gus. He is failing everywhere he goes.

Why do people think he will do better than Gus in the SEC? Has he ever even beaten a SEC team?

Yeah, I never have understood the Chip Kelly SEC love. He has zero recruiting ties in the South. His O was handled by every SEC team he faced. Those 175 lb jitterbug RB's just don't hold up well in the SEC.

For me, he is another "guess". Yea, he won a bunch of games in the Pac10 but big deal. He sucked against good competition and has zero trophies to show for his time. And LOL at his NFL career.

You and Lanier are being incredibly dumb here. He won't have 175 lb jitterbug rbs at Auburn, he'll have 4* 5* beasts and much more talented olines to run behind

Would be a good jet sweep guy while Kerryon and Kam run in between the tackles. Idk what point you're trying to make there but it's falling flat.

At what point do we stop with paying coaches not to coach?

In theory Chip Kelly would be a good hire, but I think he'd be a terrible fit. He doesn't like recruiting which is a must in the SEC, we already saw that story with Tubs. And he spent his whole life in New England and the West Coast and is a raging liberal, and while politics dont really matter in coaching he's kind of looked down on the south before so even if he took the job (which I don't think he'd want to come here) I feel like the whole time he'd just be waiting for the first chance to leave

Kam and Kerryon say different. And he knows what he'd have to have to compete in the SEC so he wouldn't be recruiting the Lamichael James's and D. Thomas's of the world to he every down backs. He's a pretty smart dude.
