Lamar Jackson wasnt a great passer year 1

Even if we did get him, he'd look like JF3 last year. Run threat obly

I believe he picked Louisville because he didn't want to be used like Nick Marshall. He wanted to be a "pro style passer". Surprise!

No matter... he'd be looking like a skinnier Jeremy Johnson under Gus.

He was not a decent passer in HS? What about his running?

he flat out chose Louisville over us. Petrino has much more pedigree in coaching quarterbacks and he made a grown up decision.

He would've sucked, somehow, had he come to Auburn. Glad to see he was smart enough to go play for a real coach.

If true I agree it was a brilliant choice to go with Petrino but he would have done great things at auburn with his style.

This isn't true. He threw for over 1800 yards, with a 55% completion percentage and a positive TD/INT ratio as a true freshman. He wasn't the passer he is now, but he was just as good as 2013 NM.

He chose UofL because he didn't want to sit behind JJ for 2 years. Seems silly now.

I was reading up on this a few days ago, and Jacksondid not want to be limited to the simple play calling that Auburn does. Imagine that,

He was an "ATH" as a recruit and most did not recruit him as a QB

Wasnt like we were going crazy after him

I thought our policy was that Gus is recruiting at a level Auburn has never seen in the past, but can't coach the talent up?

He would have been the "wildcat" specialist and then moved to wide receiver.
