It's the only thing that will drive real change. 7-8 wins per year in FB is not acceptable for the financial investment. We have a major have a leadership problem within the ath. Department from the top down. Hopefully with the new AU pres in place we will finally remove the problem. We all know JJ and those he has surrounded himself with are good for only one thing, wrenching $ out of the alumni. He has made multiple bad hires. Poor contract negotiating skill. Falling behind the SEC rivals in stadium upgrades. He has almost single handily killed the AU tailgating experience. The only positive contribution would be the new arena that has yet to produce a tourney team. I have faith in Bruce to rebuild but this year will be a strong indicator of future progress.

Didn't he give Gus a big raise a couple years ago? What a great idea that was.

Just look at JJ's body of work, especially with football, baseball, softball, and Barbee hires.

Then you have this article from last Jan. LINK you are exactly right fear... our recent coaching hires have almost all had major issues. I hate to be so negative but common sense, my AU education and over a decades worth of management and busi. experience tell me the alumni and school are getting the short end of this deal

Gave Gus a 4 year contract extension after a 6-6 season. Only a 200k raise, but it extended his buyout for 4 season at 2.25 million per season. Dumbass basically gave Gus $9 million of free money

I don't want the wheels to come off. I just hope Gus gets his head out of his arse. But maybe that's not possible.

Sorry, but I won't wish our program to fail (yet).

JJ doesn't need to hire another football coach. As long as he is AD, I want to see Gus succeed. We shouldn't even be having this conversation till Jacobs is far away from the AD.

The other issue trying to hire a head coach this year is we'll likely be competing with A&M and possibly Arkansas in the SEC.

I get so tired of seeing people throw out possible names. Seriously, PJ Fleck? The guy's overall HC record is 32-22. Guess what Gus's overall college HC record is: 45-22. And sure, Chip Kelly did great at Oregon, but can he recruit in the SEC?

I don't know what the answer is, but honestly odds are better this team turns it around this year than Gus is fired and JJ makes a good hire.

He (Gus) was running the O vs Clem despite telling everyone he was handing over the responsibility to the Coordinator, his choice relatively inexperienced hire. He cannot adapt nor willing to do what is required to win imo.

Same

I recognize the risk that another shitty 7 or 8 win season may not be enough to get the changes we need. But I can't bring myself to root for failure of the program.

Longevity has advantages. In this case, we need a new AD first. Gus has a chance this year, if he lets CL and Stidham to evolve the o
