Interesting. I think he deserves another year, but if we can him after this season, we better be getting a home run (well, a home run in terms of what we can realistically get here at AU. I'd like us to take another run at Tubby Smith.)

Hard to justify keeping him after regressing in a year where we should've taken strides forward.

I imagine he's close to retirement at 61 y/o.

Can't argue with that.

I'd like to see him coach one year with all of his own players and with a center not named Rob Chubb and a point guard not named Josh Wallace, but I'd be fine with him leaving or staying.

How many more wins do you think we need for him to be retained? The rest of our schedule is:

vs. Florida (L)
vs. Texas A&M (W/L)
@ Ole Miss (L)
@ Alabama (L)
vs. Vandy (W/L)
vs. Tennessee (W/L)
@ Mississippi St. (W)

I put W/L by those final three home games because I think they could go either way, but I think we win 2 of those final 3 home games along with a road win at Mississippi St. (If we can't beat Mississippi St. this year, I'll help Barbee pack).

That would make us 6-12 in conference play. Would six conference wins let Barbee keep his job?

I'd say 5 would maybe keep his job and 6 definitely would.

It comes down to if he can keep the team together and fighting for a common goal after dropping 6 straight (the past two UK and ARK plus the 4 straight we are about to drop). If he can keep this team fighting going into Vandy, UT, MSU and pick up 6 conference wins total and on a winning streak going into the SEC tourney then Barbee will keep his job.

You were the main Barbee knobgobbler before the season started. What happened?

He realized he is sucking balls right now. Terrible basketball. Worse than last year. Still using Lebos guys and hes been here 3 years. His recruiting classes are flops.

I know our history in basketball is not the best, but we have all the resources to have an above average team every year.

Actually we could be better. Sullivan and Chubb are killing this team, but Barbee apparently can't see it.

We have some young guys that need to get PT so they can develop. They make dumb plays, but they are dumb hustle plays, not dumb ball hog plays (Sullivan) or dumb retard plays (Chubb).

Anyone that watched last nights game could see this.

That was just last nights game where they commited the majority of the turnovers. The team as a whole sucks. Barbee is dumb for not letting the younger players play now. I have strong doubts that we are going to be better.

Well, I'm not convinced. I just don't see how we could be worse.

I would too. It's called recruiting. You'd think in his third year he would have done some of it by now where he wouldn't have to play those guys.

Chubb has been doing that for years. Sullivan is pressing because his shot isn't falling.

While i didn't agree with warslam and the rig preseason and early into the season that barbee was worth a shite, i don't think they were that off base in being hopeful he could produce at auburn. I don't think it's fair to look back in hindsight and bust their balls for thinking/hoping he could improve auburn basketball.

With that said, i'm glad we're all on board the barbee sucks bandwagon now.

The fact that he hasn't found people/developed players to replace these guys is reason enough for me to call for his head.

Chubb was damn terrible last night... He cant hold onto the ball and Sullivan was spinning around like he was on skates last night.. Sullivan is holding this team down.. He has been on a downward spiral, trying to make a shot

Chubb is an idiot. Big man gets the ball right by the basket, his first move is to put it on the floor for a dribble. It's almost like he was never taught fundementals. He has horrible hands for receiving a pass (some of this falls on the entry passer for trying to feed him low not high) and he can't shoot for shite. He frustrates me to no end.

Yea Chubb sucks, in Barbees third year I find it mindboggling that he hasnt found a better center.

Agree on Sully.

fify

ETA: ADT is better than Chubb right now. The two need to switch roles. The only thing Chubb is decent at is defending other slow big men. However, he is the worst team defender/help defender I have ever seen. He provides no protection at the rim the way someone of his size should.

I kid you not, i really thought about "his first move is dribbling the ball off his foot" but decided not to pile on. Kid is stupid and bad at basketball.
