The only real ramification of this is that his buyout after next year is increased by about $2.25 million. While I champion the "We overpay" crowd, this is surprisingly a smart move for Jacobs both for AU athletics + Jacobs career.

This will create a perception of stability both for the team and recruits. Worth $2.25 million

I like the extension, raise not so much, but I believe Malzahn is the right coach.

Not a fan at all of the raise.

He's done nothing the last two years to justify getting a raise.

I want so badly for Malzahn to be successful. I just think he can be the perfect foil to saban and give us a chance to consistently be successful. But he better get his butt in gear this year

It is an extension for ONE freakin year. Mind bottling stupid.

The only way this could help is in recruiting...definitely wont help they buyout process

I really like Gus and think he could be great long term here. I hope he gets back to his style and no longer does this "ceo" approach.

He's going to have to show results though. And soon.

Probably to help with recruiting given coaches a vote of confidence. Everyone thought Gus was on the hot seat, which means all the position coaches are on the hot seat too

It'll be ok sunshine.... JJ will build you a safe place in the north end zone expansion after he jacks ticket prices up another 50% in 2017

Correct me if I'm wrong, we essentially just put up 2 million dollars to make recruits feel better about his future at Auburn?

Pardon me, but what in the frick?
