Oh, and Corso so mad

quote:

Lee Corso putting on the headgear every Saturday screams college football.

It’s one of the most anticipated aspects of the premier pregame show.

However, while in Atlanta at the College Football Hall of Fame with the College GameDay crew, Corso let out a nugget not many people — if any — knew. Corso said Auburn is the only school that doesn’t allow him to put on their headgear. Therefore, he’s not picking them.

I don't know why, but I really like it that AU won't let him wear the Aubie head.

Yes I have heard this in the past and if it pisses him off, oh well.

This shite right here I never understand. I mean logistically, how would it work? How in the world would Corso be able to just wear Aubie's head? What kind of psychopath is he? I mean is this Tropic Thunder or something?

I think we've let him use a helmet but Aubie has always been off limits.

Yep. He's used the Auburn helmet with no face mask and a roll of TP.

It kind of seems silly to me. But what do I know.

There is always a fly in the ointment somewhere.

Seriously though, how would it even work? It's not like his head is removable.

The reason is quite simple...

When you see Corso put the head of a mascot on, it immediately gives away that the character is only a mascot...a person dressed as a character.

The idea with Aubie is that he should seem real—that he is actually the character he is meant to depict...not thought of as a person dressed as Aubie. It's also why they try to keep secret the people who dress as Aubie.

Certainly we could have one for him that was. I am sure one of the other teams does something similar

But just a guess

Agree to what you are getting at and I am sure there are tons of things related to being Aubie that I have zero knowledge about. Not sure what the requirements are.

But in the end, over 120 other programs allow him to do it and only one does not. Like it or not, its a big part of Saturday college gameday and we are the fly in the ointment.

I respect that. I also snicker at it.

Why would he just now stop picking us? We've never let him do it before and he's picked us anyways.

Plus he's supposed to pick who he thinks is actually going to win so wouldn't it ruin the integrity of his pick to not pick us because he can't wear our mascots head?

None of this stuff actually matters anyways.

The idea that people actually think Aubie is real

At this point, if we gave in, it would pretty much be saying that a buffoon like Corso prevailed...

...that's not going to happen.

we'd be condemning a perfectly good member of the Auburn family to death just so Corso could wear his decapitated head. Why would we do that to one of our own?
