Me?
I said that Gus's biggest downfall is his hubris, and since then he's loosened up. It's highly refreshing to see. Even he admitted to this.
The one aspect I find contradicting is earlier before the season began, he said he was taking a more hands on approach, but now here looks to be taking a highly hands off approach... But whatever works.........

I'm none of those guys, but I still have my questions. If he's not the playcaller anymore what does he bring to the table? Playcalling was always his strength, how do we know he's good at anything outside of that? He's still got some questions to answer before we know if he's good for the long term.

Please tell me you're not serious. If so, wow.
How do we know if he's good at anything else? AU's program has been clean, he goes out and hires the best he can, and he recruits well. What exactly do you think a head coach is to do? Coach everyone and call the plays? Nope, he dictates the attitude and direction of the program and lets his assistants bring their expertise.

We shouldn't discount the fact that Gus has brought back the traditional Auburn defense after 8 yrs of embarrassing play on that side of the ball

The keep it simple seems to have worked, not that I understand how the D totally works, but Coach Hand meeting the guys half way with terminology had to help. Evey time I hear that it sounds as if coach became a team player.

He has put together a roster that is pretty damn dominant in both sides of the ball and at nearly every positions

When your D is fitting gaps and not missing tackles it's amazing the creativity and freedom a DC can have calling plays. We were throwing stunts from every direction at Arkansas OL last night and it was an absolute beauty

If this is to imply that AU would be where it is right now, 5-2 in the SECW, without a gigantic uproar from former players/pundits/alums/fans after the QB shitshuffle Game 1 and the herky-jerky's against TAMU, you are naive.
Yes, Gus *could* be The Guy for the long term, but it's because he's grown and is growing as a coach. It's not because of who he was September 3.

I am very disappointed that I only have one upvote to give
I tried but it only let me do it once

IDGAF who gets credit for what they all seem to be doing a great job right now. too many more derp fests like we began the season with and they all need to go. bottom line, chances to win the damn thing dont come along every year in this league. you cant afford to waste any with bs like we saw early. everyone in their right mind knew that bs was a bad idea. Gus has some kinda mental deal he has to get worked out. if and when he does that he might end up in the same sentence with Saban as far as success goes.

^^^ ... to become the Saban killer we thought he could be.

Rodney's Garners recruiting has actually brought that traditional Auburn defense back.

Things are never as bad or good as they seem. In 2013 and 2010 we could have lost several games. Last year we could have won a few more games. In 2014 we could have won a few more games. The oline playing well is the biggest turn around with our team right now. They went from hot garbage to average to looking pretty strong.

Should Gus win the remaining games I will change my tune. The bama game will be a hard nut to crack but we have no business losing to any of the remaining teams. If not for that bs QB rotation we may be an undefeated team at this point

How many HCs are play callers on game day?
