If Duke becomes a good NFL football player, do we claim him?

I say yes

Williams might have lost any chance of being chosen in the 2016 NFL Draft, as well.

quote:

His lack of effort during Auburn's disappointing 3-2 start to this season, his dismissal and reputation as a bad teammate, and according to NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein, his lack of athleticism.

"He has great size, and he has very good hands and he's tough, but if you're not a good locker-room guy, and I've heard from scouts that he's a selfish player and not a good guy, then you better have a great trait like speed. He doesn't. Size isn't enough," Zierlein said. "He's not a Marcus Peters, who was a first-round pick after being kicked off his (college) team. I'll bet everything I have on that. Big wide receivers that don't get open are a dime a dozen."

Hope he reflects and grows.

"I don't see enough athleticism from him to be anything more than a physical No. 2 receiver, at best, in the league," Zierlein said. "Tape says he should be drafted inside the first four rounds, maybe the first three, but his character and athleticism are going to probably make him a third-day guy (rounds 4-7).

I really wish these people would stop repeating what Ive already said.

Duke Williams is a poor man's Larry Fitzgerald. Big wide receiver but not Terrell Owens-esque, average speed who just excels at high pointing the football + body control.

The difference in the two is that Fitz is a master of his craft and does the small things. He runs excellent routes, run blocks and is a good teammate. He also catches everything

Larry Fitzgerald was knocked for his speed/athleticism out of college and there was a lot of detractors.

By that comparison he is a poor mans Anquan Boldin along with many other receivers that fits your mold, I mean, frick.

If you remember Muhsin Muhammad, that is the best comparison I can think of.

I just mean that there definitely is a place for someone like Duke Williams in the NFL. That type of player can end up being a dominant WR who makes pro bowls.

The difference though is that most of those guys are known for their work ethic/intangibles

Duke will only be able to dominate if he has a good number one receiver on his team. He is not a number one receiver. He needs a receiver that will take the top off. Much like Steve Smith from the panthers for Moose or Sammy at Auburn for Duke.

If Duke put in the effort to be a great route runner/blocker and rounded out his game he wouldn't need a "#1".

Where he is at right now, he does though

Nah he can't but you keep believing that he is a another Larry Fitzgerald.

This story actually helps me be even happier with the decision to cut him. You know he must have been toxic in the locker room if he is that self absorbed etc.

I wear my sunglasses at night. I wonder if Duke wants to go bar hopping with me this weekend.

Kicked out of skybar for wearing sunglasses? WTF thats a stupid policy.

Also, why are ANY football players allowed at Skybar? Malzahn ought to make that place off limits.

You are kidding right?

I went with my cousin (1 guy and 8 girls) in 2011 and they wouldn't let me in. I am a young professional I was wearing slim jeans, nice shoes and a fitted white V-neck with a logo tag on the sleeve. The guy looked me in the face and told me "No White T's". We took our party elsewhere and I have never been back.

Yeah there's a small sign. Probably only applies to guys

no sunglasses after dark
pants have to be above your waist
no white T's or sleeveless T's

We were going to skybar. I'm sure it is hard for you to understand but going to skybar is equivalent to a dive bar in a small town. It is not a nice place. It's dirty and you can get cheap drinks there. That is what skybar is. I always look respectable and presentable where ever I go. You can keep you passive aggressive insults to yourself.

It is obvious they are trying to keep "gangsters" out of the bar but I found it humorous they would turn me away because of a white v-neck, lol.

Sure if I came in with an oversized white T with pants on the ground.
