Does this fact make you more optimistic about the season ahead?

Auburn had the #2 hardest schedule last season. When you add that to a lack of quality QB play and Tom Brady's cousin calling plays, it was a recipe for disaster.

With Gus returning and a ton of offensive players he recruited for his system, along with what HAS to be an easier schedule, do you feel that last year really was an aberration?

No it doesn't

I already felt we would go undefeated. This fact does not change my posibarner attitude

If you're judging "hardest schedule" by the records of opponents (or any statistical measure, really), then we're naturally going to look like we have a harder schedule because that's 7-8 more games that were won by our opponents vs. the opponents of a 10- or 11-win team.

the schedule is considerably easier, but still challenging...

The Games that Changed:
-Wazzou at Home... way easier than Clemson in ATL
-Tennessee Away... easier than Vanderbilt Away
-Ole Miss/MSU at Home... easier than Ole Miss/MSU Away
-Bama at Home... easier than Bama Away.

LSU and A&M (provided Manziel plays) are more difficult... and Arkansas will likely be a better team next season... but overall, the schedule is more manageable. UGA game remains the same (at home)

- ETA: I still think 8 wins is the ceiling for this team... with 7 more likely.

Yes last year what an aboration. No this did not make me more optimistic. I still say 7 or 8 wins(8 or 9 if Manzel is ineligible)....And Chiz called more plays than Lefty

But that's only 1/12th or 8.33% of each team's schedule. #posiblocked

Complete speculation here, because I don't feel like pulling a joey and digging up all the stats, but I feel like an 8% difference would make a fairly significant difference considering:

a) The number of teams involved (124)
b) The (likely) small size of the spread between the easiest to the hardest schedule.

I guess it makes me feel better about my prediction of 14-0 and going to the Ship this year.

I sort of agree with this, but the fact that I'm reading it still sort of blows my mind.

I've been thinking about the differences between 2011 and 2012. I feel it's Gus in 2011 we fought and did not give up example the end of the MSU game and the USCe games. Last year I think we gave up week one just my opinion but I am excited.

To this point that is factually incorrect. Tennessee has still dominated Vandy even through its struggles.

We own Tennessee. Vandy owns us

I could find 22 posters on this board that could own last year's team so throw that one out of the window. And the 2008 team was bad too. Before those 2 losses we had won 13 straight going back to 1955. The last time Vandy beat an Auburn team with a winning record was in 1919.

Which means exactly nothing in the context of this thread.

The 2013 Tennessee team should be an easier opponent for us than 2012 Vandy was. The historical record between those two schools is irrelevant.

FTR, Vandy wasn't really that good last year. They had the benefit of facing four of the least capable squads in SEC history (UT, UK, Mizzou and us) in the same season.

Remains to be seen. With any quality coaching Tennessee will be better.

Teams have intangibles just like players do. Last years team was literally beat at Tiger walk. The 1972 team had no real business, talent wise, being 9-1 going into the bammer game. I would like to see the predictions for that team going into that season. I just believe this team will find a way to win 9 or 10 games this year with the professor at the helm. War Eagle!

I want to say that the Playboy issue I found under my dad's bed picked us to go 2-8 that year.

This year's team needs a couple early breaks go our way then we need a leader to emerge at QB in the first couple games. If that happens, watch out for this team.
