Does Auburn have a feature back this year?

I think CAP will get his chance, but if you believe some of the players it sounds as if Barber is pretty special. Also, Roc should play a factor due to his ability. So you could be right and we have 3-4 RB's with 500-800 yds each. A very nice situation for our program to have.


Add in Williams and Coates, and our offense is going to be sick next year...

The good part is I expect our defense to improve over last year. I am interested to see who takes over where Dee left off.

I think CAP. It looked like Malzahn realized the RB by committee really slowed down his pace with substitutions. I expect Grant to get more carries this year too.

Barber

I just don't think CAP can be a feature back

CAP is a very solid back. Tre said Barber is probably the most complete back on the team. RB is not a position of concern for us. I do think it will probably be RB by committee.

CAP better hold onto the ball better, but if he can, it think he is the every down back with Roc and Barber and Grant pressing him. I think Grant continues his Omac impersonation.

I really want to see what we do with the H Back and GRobs Tackle position. Super excited about Braden Smith. That kid is gonna be AWESOME.

Braden Smith is going to be a stud. He clearly dominates run blocking and will in the future. Even if he doesn't excel at pass blocking, we could slip him into RT and slide Avery Young over to LT

I understand the whole Runningback by committee thing but I prefer having a feature back especially since we have a mobile QB. It allows the guy to get in more a rhythm. That said I don't know who would get the nod. I feel like Roc will be getting solid playing time by November.

We will have a feature back. Our tempo offense is best when we aren't subbing in players. CAP will be the back IMO as long as his conditioning is in order. The only way to do a running back by committee in this offense is to rotate them for whole drives which I don't see Gus doing if one or the other has a "hot hand". I'd say it's between Barber and CAP with Grant getting the sweeps. The only pt I see Rock getting is garbage time / garbage games.

I see it going the same way as this season. I think early on you will see CAP, Barber, Grant, and Roc all getting carries but as the season goes one of them will assert themselves and become the main back. I don't see it being Grant as I think he has found his niche. I know there is a lot of Barber hype after some Mason's comments but I still think it will be all CAP next season. Dude looked real good when he had his chances. Reminded me of Ben Tate (not just because of the number). I think Roc will get a few carries but I don't see him putting up a ton of yards freshman year. 2015 will be his and Barber's turn

Committe unless or until a back separates themselves from the rest. Similar to last year. One thing though, last year in spring the coaches were learning the players andvice versa. Spring will be somewhat different this year with the offense being familiar to all. A back could seperate themselves more this spring and fall. Roc will have to come out of the gates fast to see much playing time early on.
