Did some research to see where Daniel Carlson is on pace to rank all-time in the major kicking catagories among SEC players. The 6 catagories are points scored, extra points attemped, extra points made, field goal attemped, field goals made, & field goal percentage. What I found was if our offense improves to at least average in two years after his senior season he should be # 1 in every major catagory all-time.
Here's the break down
Points scored
On pace to score 440 points which would rank #1 ALL TIME
XP ATT
On pace to attempt 194 extra points #2 ALL TIME only 10 behind Colt David for # 1
XP MADE
On pace to make 194 extra points #2 ALL TIME only 7 behind Colt David for #1
FG ATT
On pace for 102 # 5 ALL TIME only 9 behind Leigh Tiffen for # 1
FGM
On pace for 82 FGM for #3 ALL TIME only 4 behind Billy Bennet for # 1
Field Goal Percentage
His FGP is 80.39 which is # 4 all-time he needs to improve to at 85.0 as a junior & senior this should be possible

I really hope Carlson gets to No. 1 on the extra points made and attempted and not so much on the field goals made/attempted.

pretty impressive that Colt David never missed an extra point.

We have had phenomenal kickers for a long time now. Hope he crushes the XP record.

Except for that Wisconsin thing.

Kicking greatness really shines through with FieldGoal Gus at the helm.

I'm 25, and can't remember a time when Auburn didn't have at least an All-SEC caliber kicker.
Damon Duval (my real memory of following AU closely begins in 2000)
John Vaughn
Wes Byrum
Cody Parkey
Daniel Carlson
Hopefully Carlsons little bro can live up to that legacy.

Wasn't he injured? Aside from that, that game should've never gone to OT.

He was a true freshman who was pulling double duty as a punter... If not for fatigue, he would've probably hit that 40ish yarded against Wisconsin. Really can't fault the kid for that.
Auburn has been very fortunate the last 15 years or so wth FG and kickoffs.

Auburn place kickers since 1976:
Neil O'Donoghue (9 years in the NFL)
Jorge Portela
Al Del Greco (17 years in the NFL)
Robert McGinty
Chris Knapp
Win Lyle
Jim Von Wyl
Scott Etheridge
Matt Hawkins
Jaret Holmes (3 years in the NFL)
Rob Bironas (9 years in the NFL)
Damon Duval (7 years in the CFL)
John Vaughn
Wes Byrum
Cody Parkey (3 years in the NFL)
Daniel Carlson
Portela, McGinty, and Knapp were extremely average kickers. All the others were very good to excellent.
Six out of 16 (37.5%) have gone on to kick professionally, 7 out of 16 (43.75%) if Carlson goes on to kick professionally (and I think his chances are good).

These are the ones I can remember watching. Thats about as quality of kickers as you can have in consecutive seasons. John Vaughn would probably be the "worst" of that group but he was still pretty damn solid - except for that LSU debacle.

Actually the "worst" of that group while at Auburn was Bironas. Damon Duval came in and took his job away from him, which is why he transferred to Georgia Southern.
Except for one horrible game against LSU which I will never forgive him for, Vaughn was the picture of reliability.

Vaughn is Auburn's all-time leading scorer, and was runner up for the Groza
Bironas was a semi-finalist for the Groza himself at AU, spent 8 years in the NFL where he made a Pro-Bowl, was once AFC player of the month, and holds 3 NFL records, most FGs made in a single game (8), most game winning FGs in a season (4), and most consecutive games with a 40+ yard FG (10)
That's a damn good "worst" 2

I thought Wes beat his record

You're right. Apparently nobody has updated Vaughn's Wikipedia page since at least 2010
Still, #2 all-time... Not bad for the supposed worst

Say what you want, but having a kicker with ice water in their veins is the most underrated part of Auburn's team for the last 20 years. We have been #blessed in that regard.

Cody Parkey will forever live on my shite list for the 2013 BCSNCG. He had a crappy game. Kick offs that should have gone out of the end zone didnt and his FG kicking sucked too.
Probably not a stretch to blame the loss on him.

He was injured during that game. Hard to trash a kid for being injured
I agree, his kickoffs + FG misses were a big deal

I hope he makes it.
I still remember the Duval kick to beat UF in '01. I cannot imagine nastier weather to kick in.
