Used to live right next to it at that apartment complex right on the intersection, always loved dipping over on gameday and getting some barbeque and sweet tea to settle my hangover before continuing to drink excessively.

At least it will turn into something really cool like a Walgreens or an Arby's or something

Honestly frick this. Everything I love about Auburn and made my college years special: Bodega's/The Bank Vault, Supper Club, Price's, Toomer's Corner have all been sold or destroyed.

This change towards developer driven projects is happening rapidly. I guess it's expected as land values increase. Perhaps the city needs to revisit their ordinances to insure quality buildings are being built to replace these establishments...not cheapo chain stores like CVS .

No kidding. The city council can go frick themselves (I realize they don't have anything to do with Price's closing here), but just in general. Their vision for what they want Auburn to be is just awful.

I hope they can at least stay open through the football season. On early games, or some craptastic game that not a lot of people were going to, we would just buy Price's for our tailgate. I guess we can get beef jerky from the fricking CVS from now on.

That being said, I bet the guy got PAID

Oh he got a ton of money. Especially with them putting that new complex right next to it? Oh yea.

For the love of god just don't let it be some ridiculously crappy chain. If it's going to be a chain, let it be a good one.

Yes. As land values increase, it's getting more and more attractive for small business owners to sell out .

Agree, but it will probably be something shitty like TGI Friday's or Applebee's.

Always awesome to pass rules to force people to do what YOU want done with THEIR property, rather than allow them to do what they want with property which they used their own money and resources to purchase.

God Bless America!

How about no chains?

I don't want Auburn to become Alabaster.

The loveliest village is quickly turning into something unrecognizable. There are two huge residential developments going up in downtown. Bodega is now Pieology, and that place is like a metrosexual Subway for pizza.

Unfortunately, it appears that developers' interests in Auburn aren't to give Auburn more personality as a city, but instead to put money in their own pockets. If that's the case, then I have no problem with the government intervening as long as it's rational.

I'm not at all against new buildings. I embrace change, and I'm not one to cling to the past. But I also despise the majority of developers because they aren't motivated by the right reasons.
