2007 Michigan was preseason #5. They started 0-2, losing in overtime to eventual FCS National Champion Appalachain State and then getting blown out by Oregon. They were able to salvage their season and go 9-4 with a bowl win, albeit with an easier schedule than Auburn.

I know we're all in doom mode after the loss, but we saw a lot to be positive about Saturday that this team can build on moving forward.

Defense played with a lot heart. Lack of pass rush is very concerning, Dak had all day to throw, but holding a veteran Heisman contender that's torn is up the last two years to only 17 points is huge.

Sean White looked good leading our offense. He looked like a leader, and sounded like one after the game. We were able to get into a rhythm. Run game looked good. Sean went 21/28 despite some drops, being handicapped by play calling, MSU selling out to take away the long passes, and a lack of protection.

Pass protection was another thing very concerning about this game. BUT game 4 with several new guys, they'll continue to gel. We've played 3 very good DL's so far in UL, LSU, and MSU that all have multiple future draft picks. The other game, JSU, Johnson had all day to throw, he was just retarded. OL I expect to get better.

We had every chance to win that game. A bad read under pressure by a freshman QB on his first drive ever, a bad snap, and a shanked FG are the difference in this game.

I think Gus was gun shy and nervous with the play calling because of starting a freshman and the issues we've had so far. I think this weekend against SJSU you'll see Gus test the limits more of our new offense and see what we can do. He'll open up the offense more as the season goes and we learn our new strengths, and hopefully he gets less cutesy.

Only two teams remaining on our schedule really scare the piss out of me. UGA and Ole Miss. Both have a lot of scary athletes, but both are at home and one is a rivalry game so who knows.

This is how I see the remaining schedule going:

vs San Jose State - W
at Kentucky - W
at Arkansas - W
vs Ole Miss - L
at Texas A&M - toss up
vs Georgia - L
vs Idaho - W
vs Alabama - W

8-4 or 7-5

As of right now, sure... but in a few weeks?... who knows. They could lose in Starkville and should've lost to Arkansas. They're not unbeatable... and Kyle field has be kind to visitors.

They struggled a lot with Arkansas. Their defense is still weak. Carson is nothing special. Kirk will tear us up for 200+ but they're beatable.

I don't know about that. They may have almost lost to Arkansas but we should have lost to JSU.

And were we not really close to getting Kirk?

Could 2015 Auburn be 1963 West Virginia? More at 11.

I like the optimism. I will go ahead and chalk Ole Miss up as a loss. However, it's on Halloween and at JHS. Maybe. Just maybe...

I think we're finally seeing a little more parity in the SEC. The run Bama and AU made beginning in 2008 and up to last year kind of got perception out of whack.

I think social media is also to blame with perception versus reality. Everywhere you looked online there was hype about AU, TN, and Arkansas, but none of the teams have lived up to the hype. The Arkansas/A&M game was just weird.

If Sean White continues to improve and the defense does too, we should at least be competitive. What's the latest on Lawson? If we are fortunate enough to get him back, obviously that will help too.

Not sure if it's been discussed on this board, but folks over at AU Family are claiming there are issues with the coaching staff. Something about Lashlee not getting along with DC and Grimes. Take it with a grain of salt. IF however that is an issue hopefully Gus gets it cleared up fast.

We have the talent to win. Just need to buckle down.

We don't have a chance in hell in beating Bama.

Disagree. There is always a chance.

Also, how will Bama respond if they end up losing 3 or even 4 regular season games by the time the IB rolls around?

They could very well drop the UGA, A&M, and/or LSU games. There are probably only a couple of players on that team that have lost more than 1 regular season game (2010 Bama lost 3 regular season games). How will they respond to adversity? No to mention any issues that might be happening with the coaching staff. Plus the game is at AU. I was at the 2009 IB. We should have won that game and Bama was clearly the more talented team.

My response was in reference to our team's current problems, not there's. You do have a point. But the 2009 team was more or less running on all cylinders (though it was more like 6 cylinders than 8)

I think this team is currently defining who it is. MSU was completely winnable, we'll get a tune-up this weekend and I think we'll upset some folks by the end of the year.

They certainly say the weed is a lot stronger than the stuff we had in college.
vs San Jose State - W (90)
at Kentucky - W (50%)
at Arkansas - W (50%)
vs Ole Miss - L (30%) We seem to have their number.
at Texas A&M - W (50%)
vs Georgia - L (10%)
vs Idaho - W (99%)
vs Alabama - W (20%)

If my percentages are accurate, I give us 6-6. I would take 7-5 right now and not play the games.

We played arguably the worst opponent (at least the easiest game with it being at home) left on our schedule, outside of the cupcakes and we didn't score a single TD. The defense played a little better, as in they at least kinda tried, but Miss St could have scored more if they wanted or needed to.

If we are truly at the point where we consider not getting blown at Miss St at home "a lot to be positive about" we need to just go ahead and shut the program down.

Bama is shite on offense, and meh in the secondary. Their front 7 is the only thing up to par with their recent standards.

Every Auburn team with a pulse plays Bama close and with it JHS, that's a very winnable game. I swear our fanbase's pessimism and stupidity at the game is sickening at times.

Right, problem is this team doesn't have one. Or certainly has not shown it yet.

Did you see what LSU did to our front 7 without the threat of a passing game? Bama won't be much different.

Which means we won't be able to run the ball well and lord knows we can't throw it.

Sorry you're out of touch with reality. I guess T Zach's older brother gets some pretty good stuff.

So Bama has a Fournette? Maybe we should go out and get one since guys like that are so common.

As for your other two comments I'll just assum that like tRant you didn't watch our game Saturday and are still basing your opinion off the 2 weeks before that. I'm sorry, but you're the one who's out of touch. And that's pretty consistently the case...
