Is this a result of the alleged "separation" that occurred between him and Bubblegum? I think the wheels will either fall off fellas or it may be a band-aid for a 4-5 game run and then the annual bed craping will occur.

Thoughts?

If Chip Lindsey really called the game versus Clemson, then he isn't ready to call the plays and well the season will be a long one for us. Gus could also be calling plays and just wanting to shut up the whole world on why he continues to hold the playcall sheet. To be honest, the offense still kinda looks like Gus's offense with just more passing. It still looks like the same predictable bullshite but with getting sacked more often.

Nothing but deflecting and blame shifting. Plain and simple.

I've never seen a coach make as many excuses as this clown!

Doesn't matter anymore what he does as LSU, GA, and Bama will seal his fate. I see us losing all 3 sadly.

CL may as well coach from the parking lot.

This move is so people can't see Gus telling Chip what play to call.

"We didn’t get it done on offense,” Malzahn said. “That was frustrating. Our fans are frustrated. Our players and our coaches, we’ve got to solve that. It starts with me."

If it's Gus giving Chip his playbook and telling him he can call the plays as long as they are Gus's plays - I'm actually okay with. Gus is the current head coach and that's his call. He will get fired, but he is the captain of the ship for now. Stupid to pay Chip just to be a puppet, but whatever.

If it's Gus interjecting and saying "don't run that, run this instead" that's what makes me want to shoot him in the head with a potato gun.

None of those quotes are really that incriminating though. Malzahn is the head coach, so of course he's going to (or should) take ownership of the offensive woes. If the defense was struggling, I'd expect him to say "our defense" and "It starts with me." Any head coach who watches his team monumentally fail in any aspect and says "(insert coordinator)'s offense/defense/special teams" or "it starts with (insert coordinator)" should be fired on the spot.

I hear you. Isn't that like someone giving a chef the ingredients and paying him to cook it? You could end up with a crap sandwich.

Yeah - it does not make sense to me and certainly not what I would recommend.

Gus could be calling out of the NE Patriots book right now and it wouldn't make that big a difference. The most concerning problem right now is coaching. The QB coaching is god awful. The WR coaching could be worse than QB coaching. And I have no idea what is happening with the OL coaching. You don't get this fixed, what does it matter, you won't get that execution that Gus is looking for.

It's a big shite sandwich and we're all going to have to take a bite.

this is a quote off of another forum that was taken from an article that was written while CHEF TELL was coaching the OL at penn st.

"Some of Hackenberg's trouble was no doubt thanks to Penn State's brutal offensive line, which allowed an alarming 83 sacks over the last two years"

Hackenberg played well his freshman year with O'Brien coaching him. The wheels fell off once Franklin came in and Hand was running the OL. Dude took a beating after that.

Rhett Lashlee has to be drawing some satisfaction from this nonsense.

This already feels like the coup de grace and feels just like the end of the Tubs era when Tony Franklin was hired. I just don't feel that time is on the side of Gus and Lindsey UNLESS Auburn goes at least 2-1 against the remaining Big 6 schedule (LSU, GA, Bama) which I don't see happening.

Gus thinking that putting Chip up in the press box is going to make a big difference is just laughable and is just more deflecting. I honestly feel that Rhett Lashlee is going to end up being a good coordinator (play caller, maybe not QB whisperer) and we will get to see just how bad Gus has screwed up everything. Jeremy Johnson may have been a pretty good QB under guidance from the likes of a Mullen or Petrino. Jason Campbell sucked pretty bad before Petrino came along but we all knew he had huge potential.

It's just really unbelievable how far we have fallen offensively and I will be glad to see either Gus take his ADD meds or GTFO.
