Odds are much higher to make the roster if you get drafted in the 6th or 7th round as compared to signing an UDFA deal. Mostly because teams are still trying to fill needs in the late rounds rather than fill roster spots via UDFA's

If you could guarantee making it to a second contract, being an UDFA is a better deal. That's why Lael Collins told teams he wouldn't sign draft contracts passed a certain round

UDFA deals are 3 years, so you don't waste a valuable year of your prime on a 4 year rookie deal.

As Rig pointed out though, your odds of making a team go down drastically. When choosing between two bench warmers for the last spot, you typically choose the drafted guy who you've already made financial guarantees to

He might be, but my guess is most of his options don't involve the NFL. Average physical tools with off the field issues isn't exactly the best combination.

Stiff hips and below average athlete. Restricted, semi-strider off snap and slow into routes. Won't slip many tackles in the open field after the catch. Despite his size, blocking not a priority for him. Small hands for his size. Can't shake free underneath and will have to live off of contested catches. Very little acceleration for separation out of breaks. Could be forced into slot role only. Looked like he was going through the motions in 2015 before his dismissal. Scouts don't trust his personal or football character at all.
