Is anyone as worried as I am about the CB depth? Jonathon Jones is injured, T.J. Davis out, Melton - transferring (dont know if he would get any playing time anyway). JJ and JH start if both are healthy obviously.. Who is behind them? Walk on Dirty "Mike", Stephen Roberts, Nick Ruffin, maybe Rudy Ford plays a little CB if it is that bad..

Hopefully the front 7 is able to get enough pressure to help them out

Yeah, I thought about him, but figured he'd be playing a lot of Nickel

He would be, which would be part of the CB rotation technically.

ETA: Plus add Denson, Carlton Davis, and Javarius Davis. I think both Davis's will be ready to play.

Yeah, didn't know whether to add the TF or not. I really like Carlton Davis.

Boom is
quote:

T.J. Davis out,
For the moment. Per Gus, rehab is going very well & (they expect him back for the season, what part of it IDK)
quote:

Who is behind them?
Rudy when he's not playing safety, then Roberts & Dirty Mike for the moment. TJ will be if he continues getting better from knee injury. I expect a true freshman to be in the 2 deep @ some point.
quote:

Nick Ruffin,
Has been @ safet only per all reports to this point

Wasn't sure if he was full time there or not.

Would be highly surprised if he sees the field this year.

Not sure about that. Per a report by BMatt, CLT coaches both the SAM backers & nickels on 1 side & Bucks regardless if they stand or in 3 point on the other side. All OLBs

Yea, but I mean as far as depth is concerned, he would be playing basically a CB in multiple WR sets. If a team went 5 wide, we would be able to count him in with the CB's. We wouldn't be looking for another CB to count towards that.

We have the best offensive coach in the country, and on paper, the most overall talent on offense in school history. The D just has to be slightly above average.

We'll be alright, but Tony Bridges was such a big loss...

More of a safety than CB per Boom. That is how the Nickel is different from CEJ's star but yes your point is taken.

Yup. Still pisses me off. We would have 3 quality CBs on campus right now if he had stuck.
