Wasn't there a fight between coaches or between a player in coach stemming from disagreements on how the team was playing?

Anyone care to share? I figure a lot of details are now known because it was 7 years ago.

Tubs refused to go all in with the spread, there were some disagreements with franklin and the old coaching staff that tubs played favorites with. no fighting that I recall. it was really just the overall morale and needing to move on with all parties involved

Don't think Franklin was allowed to bring his guys in and had to deal with the coaches that were there before.

I was in 11th grade of highschool that year I remember lurking on every single auburn board and reading that franklin supposedly told kodi he'd never be a qb blah blah blah. franklin wears chris todd pajamas blah blah blah following Saturday we lost to arky then got our asses handed to us against wvu and ole miss

next day after Halloween every auburn board had the same thing "Fire tubs and the rest of the bbq gang"

Ole Tony...

Been pretty successful since his days in Auburn.

Cal is 8th in the country in scoring offense averaging 43 ppg right now.

2009 - MTSU - 23 in scoring; 27 in total
2010 - La Tech - 59 in scoring; 49 in total
2011 - La Tech - 42 in scoring; 51 in total
2012 - La Tech - 1 in scoring; 1 in total
2013 - Cal - 97 in scoring; 34 in total
2014 - Cal - 11 in scoring; 13 in total
2015 - Cal - 8 in scoring; 10 in total

And his QB has been projected to go #2 overall to the Bears in this mock draft.

And this is from pro football focus.

Right now Goff is the best quarterback in the country, and likely the best quarterback prospect for the 2016 NFL draft. His game is full of positives, and he has all the physical traits you look for.

No coach bought in to what Franklin was selling. The team saw that, didn't buy in either. Franklin was screwed the day he was hired.

I think Franklin was wronged. Tuberville basically hired him to call plays, not run an offense and he didn't didn't have any support.

Would hav ebeen interesting to see what Franklin could have done given real control. I don't think you can argue that he is a legit O Coordinator

I think Franklin should NEVER have been hired...

But once hired, he had no chance.

I recall a rumor of Tony Franklin getting punched by either the OLine coach (Hugh Nall?) or maybe an O lineman. It was never confirmed that I am aware of.

IIRC, there was a fight between lee ziemba and a DL (believe it was Antonio Coleman) during preseason practices... during this time, tuberville let media view practices... after all the beat writers wrote on the fight, CTT closed all practices to the media... pissed a bunch of writers off. Guys like finebaum made s huge deal out of it.

It was just like any practice fight... but was blown out of proportion

Tubbs brought in Tony Franklin and didn't let him bring any assistants. The retained assistants didn't really buy in to the Spread offense with zone blocking. So the offense was pretty bad.

ETA: I guess I should have read what was above. Sorry for the repeat of what has been said over and over.

He hired him based on the recommendation of one of the other assistants (Gran or Nall or somebody). Tubs supposedly did no research on his own and only had a 15 min interview with him before offering the job.
I think Franklin was also coarse and liked to cuss a little more than Tubs liked too.

I've never heard that. I just heard Franklin had a melt down in the locker room after a game and had words with various coaches. Never heard about any racial slurs.

It was a combination of problems that happened throughout the season. I remember Franklin was on PF's show and gave his side of the story. Wish I could find it because it was an interesting interview.

You have to remember that Franklin has went on to be one of the best OC's in college football since AU. Makes you wonder just how much of it was his fault.
