I would love nothing more than for Bruce to continue to coach and this team go to the NCAA tourney and make some noise. The rest of the SEC on the Rant will go crazy.

I hope the amount of work that has been going on in the athletic department the last two days had determined that it's no risk for these two players to practice.

Are there rules that say ineligible players cannot practice? Or is it just games the NCAA is concerned about?

If the money could just be returned by the players and parents, maybe that would allow the players to miss little (if any) time and avoid being declared ineligible.

Bruce handled this about as well as he could have. Addressed the elephant in the room and went on with the season. I hope this entire conundrum won't affect the team.

With our Compliance staff, this is a good sign.

Bruce Pearl just needs to say "eff it" we are playing the entire season with these guys. It's our only chance at having a decent season and let's make the NCAA prove their case. HAHA.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The FBI doesn't care if players are eligible or not. Our compliance department is more worried about the NCAA's response to all of this.

At this point, we might as well play everyone and hope for the best. We may not have another shot at the tourney for a looooong time.

AU will have to deem them ineligible before season if money exchanged hands

And if we don't are we really in a worse position than we would be if we suspended the money takers?

Based on the timeline outlined in the complaint against Person, who was one of four assistant coach and 10 people arrested by the FBI on Tuesday, as well as other identifying material in the document, it appears redshirt-sophomore Danjel Purifoy is most likely "Player-1" and sophomore Austin Wiley, who is referenced in a conversation between Person and Michel, is most likely "Player-2."

Pearl would not say if he, any member of the coaching staff or Auburn's compliance department has spoken to Vicki Orr, Wiley's mother, or Purfoy's mother, Waukesha Williams-Blevins.

"We try to make good communication with our families and recruits," Pearl said. "I would say that we just tried to be as much as we possibly could, as far as our communication, available and try to be as much as we could business as usual."

Attempts to reach Orr, Williams-Blevins and Mustpha Heron's father have been unsuccessful.

The one thing that makes me think it might not be Wiley is that in the indictment, when Person is referencing Wiley in the early phone call, the indictment doesn't reference him as Player 2.

That doesn't mean it isn't him, but most of the time they like to be consistent with those identification place holders.

One of them is Wiley 100%.
