AUstudnt23 weighed in on AU's coaching future:

quote:

CGM is wanting RL to be looking elsewhere and Rhett is open to leave AU now. I am not saying CGM is telling CRL to look elsewhere but the feeling is mutual.

And then today:

quote:

There will be a Briles coaching at AUBURN next season. This is of course assuming CGM doesn't end up getting fired. We could possibly get both Briles if Art were to become our OC. I don't think there is any chance atm of Art becoming our hc.

Another post:

quote:

No matter what there will be a Briles coaching at Auburn next season. That is assuming CGM does not get fired. At this point we would not hire Art Briles as hc but we would entertain the idea of him becoming the OC.

And..

quote:

The feeling is Art would also entertain the idea of coming in and being the OC. This is all assuming that he isn't offered a head coaching gig.

If Austudnt23 says something, it's usually a good idea to listen. He is right more often than not. Pretty sure he is the kid of a booster or former AU player. I know he has access to closed practices.

That would surely make the transfer of Jarrett Stidham to Auburn happen.

Getting Rhett Lashlee gone and Art Briles in would definitely bring about some quarterback development and new twists to the offense.

On the field, awesome hire. Off the field, Auburn will get roasted.

Maybe Gus is ready to take that next step and just be the CEO.

Haha

I'll believe it when I see it. Why the frick do people think Rhett is the problem? Firing him will not change anything.

On top of that... We actually believe gus ego will allow him to listen to briles or let briles call the shots?

Please. Talk about a coaching problem.

I agree, but at the same time Art Briles would advance the O in very very meaningful ways if brought on in lieu of Lashlee. I am, and will continue to be, 100% against a hire like that though.

Gus already listens to Briles...he actively talks to him and seeks his advice

I'm for the hire if it means a fresh infusion of offensive play calling and an end to stubbornness. AU will have to take their lumps off the field--but so did Bama--but once, if any, on the field results happen, the vast majority will forget about Briles' past.

What is Art's plan for fixing the worst OL in the SEC?

Hand needs to go along with Lashlee for that to happen.

Why the frick do people think Rhett is the problem?

Because ...

1... with all the highly sought talent provided him the only QB's he's coached up is none. His successes have only been when directing another coordinators labors.
2... he appears to be a carbon copy yes man; meaning what new does he bring to the table. What life lessons, different strategies, or varying views does Grasshopper offer the Master?
3... like nepotism his being there has resulted in a bad ju-ju labor relations problem among the staff. Never heard anything bad about D'Craig before him becoming co-offensive coordinator alongside Rhett.
4... a process of elimination is a proven (time honored) step in trouble shooting.
5... not being part of the solution could very well mean he's either part of the problem or in the way of finding one.
6... of the daddy issues. Where it's probably for his own good (or bout time) to show your Adult-Child the door.
7... sometimes if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's likely a duck ... and this one begins w/a F.
8... changing coordinators is what a struggling college football team does when faced with over whelming adversity. It's the expected thing. It's the nature of things. It's written into the job description. The anomaly is to not to make a change.

Student23 claims to have sourced but I've never seen proof that he has intel. Every time he says something that might be groundbreaking, 10 times out of 10, there is either already a discussion on here about said subject or its on a paywall.
Hell, I'm telling you right now that I'm 6'5, 240 pounds. I said so.

He knows what he is talking about.

There has been some talk about Briles coming in as a consultant this season. I don't know if that will happen or not.

Gus won't be here next year. Tonight starts that process. There will be boo birds tonight and it will be the final straw.

Kendal Briles would be a very good hire for OC... combine with Stidham at QB and we're in pretty good shape.

Personally, I'd love to see us move to a more pass-based spread offense, where the running game is important, but not crucial to success every game. Right now, if we can't run the ball for 250+ yards, we can't win.

That's great but Rhett isn't the problem. The man calling the shots is.

With Rhett around there is too much groupthink. Gus needs fresh ideas and someone to challenge his offensive philosophies. I think the Briles passing offense could mesh well with Gus' run philosophies. All I know is, some change needs to happen.
