BHAM guys,
I'm bringing the whole fam damily to Oxford on Saturday, but we'll stop in Birmingham on Friday night. Any recommendations for an area to get a decent hotel and food? I'm looking for a suite. It's been awhile since I've been through Birmingham. Any advice would be appreciated.

Anywhere on 280 is decent. For a little entertainment and good food go to Saw's Juke Joint. BBQ and live music. Get the pork and greens.
You're welcome.

Stay in Hoover, Embassy Suites is nice.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Ross Bridge is pricey but awesome. But I agree, you are probably better off staying in Hoover by Galleria for easy access to variety of restaurants and interstate to travel to other places in city that wouldn't be too far away.

I would stay up around Gardendale, room should be cheaper, and you are close to I-22 interchange.

Do you have 6000 Hyatt Points by any chance (or 6,000 Chase UR points)?
The Wynfrey Hyatt will let you book a standard room for $199 and upgrade to a Suite for 6,000 points (~$60).

Embassy Suites in Homewood. They have suites, a Ruth's Chris steakhouse in the hotel, and lots of good restaurants nearby. Free breakfast which is awesome... great made to order omelets.

I've stayed at the one at exit 61 in Opelika. No rooms to be had anywhere for a game. By far my worst hotel experience.
