Beyond the Game: Through thick and thin, Al and Wes Flanigan

I know you guys don't like me posting on here, but I really wanted you guys to see this story. Wes Flanigan is due for a coaching job. UALR is 19-2 and Wes is on the staff.

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — They just might be Little Rock's first family of basketball. Longtime Parkview High School Boys Basketball Coach Al Flanigan once again has the Patriots highly ranked. His son Wes, who once played for him at Parkview, is back as an assistant coach at Little Rock. "It was a joy to coach him. We had some misunderstandings," Al said. Those misunderstandings, however, only made Wes stronger. "I'm a cancer survivor. I think that's something a lot of people forget about," Wes said. "At the age of 20, down at Auburn, I was faced with a big word: cancer. Obviously my mom and dad were there to support me. Without them, I wouldn't be able to get through that situation. His tough love, my mom's tough love, is something that helped me get through that situation."
