I don't watch the other teams that much so I don't have a feel for FL, but how does everyone feel about the game?

Well we are on the road against Billy D. It will be a tough game to win unless we shoot well, avoid droughts, and Bowers has a great game. If we go in there and steal a win it will be HUGE.

We match up terribly with this UF team. Like this is probably the worst match up we face all year outside Kentucky. Their size in the front court is going to give us fits. We will get out rebounded by 15 tonight

This will be a tough win. It's hard to believe UF has the same record as we do. UF is a 14.5 point favorite, which is understandable.

It'll be a tough win, and honestly I don't expect it. If Bowers has a good game and we shoot well, then we have a good chance.

Look at what happened at Vandy...we started out poor. If we can avoid that, then it will certainly help our chances.

I fully agree. It will be very tough to win tonight. The Round Mound of Rebound 2.0 has to play out of his mind tonight.

While I don't expect a W and they are good, this isn't past UF teams. Their front court is clealry bigger but not huge and they have been outmuscled by big guys like Josh Smith from Georgetown. Their rebounding margin on the year is only +3.9 which isn't elite by any means

We have to play a complete game to have a chance, this Florida team though has been prone to not finishing and playing poorly though. We need luck to pull it out but it is possible

Finney Smith is an NBA prospect and will have 6 inches on whoever we put at the 3. And Chris Walker is absurdly talented. Don't act like this isn't a mismatch and we don't already have trouble down low.

Thanks Captain Obvious?

Seriously though, the shoot well and avoid droughts thing is going to be tough and has been a problem in the first half the entire season it seems like. The mizzou game was the first one they actually seemed to not play like dogshit for an entire half.

I feel weird talking Auburn basketball, but it's fun...and I'm not even going to pretend like I know what I'm talking about, just going off what I've witnessed watching games on tv.

It's the 2nd chance points that Finney Smith and Walker generate that concern me. Neither are what I would consider effective in the post. It's going to come down to handling their pressure and limiting 2nd chance baskets. I like our chances of accomplishing one of those keys. I think we keep this game closer than most believe but fall a little short in the end. 74-68 UF

ETA: As a basketball fan I love watching Florida play. Donavan is the best coach in the country imo. The way he gets his players to play defense and their movement on offense is a beautiful thing to watch.

I'm not. I am just pointing out that this isn't even close to the mismatch that say UColorado was. They definitely are the better team but I don't see them feasting in the post like you are suggesting

ETA: Feasting any more than most teams do since we get out rebounded so much

was it last year we carried a lead late into the game in gainsville only to give it up on boneheaded plays like failing to inbound because no one (literally no one) came back to receive the pass? The barbee tenure just kind of seems to run together as one big blur of silly errors...like a bloopers reel complete with zany music.

Yes that was last season. Florida was number 1 or 2 in the nation and we were in a position to knock them off.

In hindsight, I'm glad we ended up losing that game. I'm not saying it would've saved Barbee his job, but it did make it clear right at that moment just how incompetent he was as a HC.

not to go hipster...but teh outcry against barbee should've been louder and sooner. You're right though, that game put a neat little bow on it.

They simply looked past us. We were a nobody but we did have a legit scorer in CD3 and a legit jack of all trades in KT. When you have a good game, 50+% 3PT, 45%FG and your two stars + Allen Payne throw up 50 pts you have a shot.

It should have been clearer earlier but this was the point of no return for sure

absolutely agree. They play together as one unit. Ball movement is awesome
