Auburn is using a virtual reality system to help train players off the field. "We got a chance to get in front of them and let them show us something. We’ll see how it goes. We’ve done some during the summer. We filmed some things during spring practice. We’re starting to build that library of film that they can come in and watch."

Could we use a "location tracking" system in an empty room with ocular rift capabilities for the player to simulate play reads?

Basically, take the old NFL 2k games individual player mode, and let the players use ocular rift instead of screen

-Seems pretty easy with tech we have today.

-Player wears ocular rift + spatial tracker in room

-Game engine process 21 other players on field

-Coaches see where players are looking + decisions made so they can coach exactly on what players see

-Also can give top level view of game situation for players in "film" of their decisions

-Added bonus when using it as a defensive unit e.g. DBs or LBs to work on communication

I know the Colts are doing this too. They actually design it (at least the one the Colts use) here in Huntsville.

It's nuts that you could theoretically do an entire team walkthrough without a single player being in the same room.

Long term you could hire off field assistants for every field position who can analyze everything a player looks at during practice
