I'm glad the family could give us that. I severely doubt Gus names the starter.

Well this is awkward.

It's uncharactersitic of Gus to name a QB. But to act like White is a scrub is beyond dumb.

When you have the future Heisman Trophy winner, you name him the starter.

@CoachGusMalzahn 17 Aug 2013 I've named Nick Marshall our starting QB. He's earned that opportunity. Auburn family let's get behind him and the team. #WarEagle

Seriously? You didn't think Gus would name JS today?

My Dad was there Saturday, and he said it would be comical to put it off. Sean is a good QB. Stidham is a great QB.

We would need to have fired Gus today had he pretended any longer.

I certainly did not say that SW was a Scrub, in fact I said I loved the guy. SW will play out this year, graduate and go somewhere. Yes the current favorite for that is UCONN. SW plays with a lot of heart, but he does not have the arm strength of the other two QBs.

NOTE: I would have spelled uncharacteristic correctly.

ETA: SW is a class act, love this tweet from him.

Yea that tweet is fricking awesome. Got me in my feels a little bit. Sean has worked hard for us, wish it could have turned out differently for him, but the goal is to win.

Long live Snowboard Cam!

So are we of the opinion now that Snowboard is definitely the #2 QB, or is MW making a legitimate push for that?

In a coaches mind there will be zero reason to play MW unless we have two QB's get hurt. Fans will try to justify why it isn't the correct move, but no coach does it unless they have to.

If Stidham were to go down, I'd imagine SW would take the reins regardless, simply because they are similar QBs schematically and the offense wouldn't need to shift gears like it would need for a dual threat like Malik.

Stidham got hurt at Baylor, right? He's probably more robust than Sean, but who knows what will happen. I'm just glad we have some quality backups at QB (finally)

I think it would depend on the situation. If we are right in the thick of the playoff hunt, I think it could go either way. We haven't gotten to see MW like the coaches have. He may be the real deal. We know what we have with Sean, and he just doesn't strike fear in opponents like JS and MW might.

If we are in the playoffs hunt and Stidham goes down, I would guess both SW and MW would end up playing. Gus has trouble sticking with a guy, they will probably want to see what they've got with both, and SW could get hurt anyway.

From the limited clips I've seen of him interacting with the other players, he seems like a true leader at QB. And a true cocky bastard, which is great for a QB. Give em hell
