You should always be worried when a senior leaves for another team

Especially when he was going to be literally the only scholarship Senior.

We'll be looking to Patrick Kiem for veteran leadership next year

Can't blame TJ with Murray eligible next season and Okeke coming in. He obviously saw the writing on the wall. I think he still could've contributed at times but not a big loss.

This is what my initial line of thinking was. That he wasn't as talented as the rest, and wanted to have a bigger role somewhere else.

With Lang gone, I do worry a little bit about our backcourt.

Got to imagine Heron splits some time at the 2 and we bring in a combo guard type player

Lang saw the writing on the wall when he played maybe 5 minutes over a 4 game stretch in the middle of the year

He did show some improved effort and play towards the end of the year.

I think it is best for him to transfer, hopefully that improvement gets him interest from a good opportunity. Seemed like a good kid

I would've liked to have kept him. Could've provided some senior leadership and can hit some timely threes. I hope we don't have to fill that spot with another grad transfer.

1-Mitchell,Harper
2-Heron,Brown

You might be right about bringing in a Combo guard.. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

I hate the idea of banking on quality minutes from multiple FR, especially considering our lack of veteran experience. Given our pace/tempo, expecting >30min per player seems like a stretch/bad option.

My big issue is at PG really

1- Harper 30m , Mitchell 10m

I just don't see Harper at his size being able to handle >30m per game. We saw him banged up quite frequently last year and take some hard hits

I love Mitchell and what he brings, but he is closer to a combo guard than a true PG. Doesn't give me a fuzzy feeling to rely on 10+ min on a true FR combo guard.

If either Mitchell/Harper get injured we are SOL and the season is effectively over too

Other items of note, TAMU's FR Robert Williams will return for his SO season. Williams was a projected mid-late lotto pick

TAMU will be stacked next year, w/ two legit NBA lotto talents in Williams/Hogg and great college players in Tyler Davis/Gilder

They also will have JJ Caldwell eligible and add a very talented recruiting class of four 4* players

To add to the above post, Bruce and the staff's coaching + development will be truly put to the test next year. The SEC will be absolutely loaded in '17-18

If Mizzou pulls in #1 recruit Porter through hiring his dad, every team in the SEC either returns a ton of talent or adds some serious amount of talent

.... other than LSU. Basically 13 very talented/experience quality teams + LSU

SEC basketball is on the rise. Hope Bruce knows what he is doing. Wisconsin Milwaukee days are over.

Our window is closing too.

Pastner at Georgia Tech may have questionable coaching skills, but he is a high energy recruiter + had a great year 1 there

We can't afford to have more competition in ATL recruiting without showing improvement

The only thing about Harper that prevents him from getting the combo guard label is his size. He's not a true point either. He's a shoot first guy who can't make consistent plays in the paint.

I wouldn't mind seeing the offense run through Heron. He's ball dominant now, and maybe him being the half court PG forces him to create for others. The ability is there. Brown can bring the ball up too.

We need pure ball handlers. Duke showed what happens when you don't have any. We did too against Bama, in particular, when they came storming back just because we couldn't even bring the ball up court without turning it over.

I assume we'll go after a PG in the grad transfer market

That would be great. Doesn't even have to be flashy, just some steady hands.

I may be the biggest Brown supporter but he sure as shite can't play PG unless he figures out how to dribble

Heron rarely passes and it would be a waste of his ability/strengths.
