This guy probably wants to make America Great Again and bring back the good old days where your word was bond and you didn't have to pay workers in your house because they were slaves.

Former Hoover player Dylan Smith is leaving UNC-Ashville and would like an auburn offer. LINK

Good FR guard wants 5o transfer to AU or Bama, and then we get word we may lose a player/open roster spot? Sounds pretty suspicious ha

Considering we lose Dunans and dont have a ton of top depth at SG behind him, this would be an awesome addition

I liked reeds potential and have been pro Reed here. That said, he is an awkward fit in Bruce's system. While he definitely is agile for 7+, hard to play a full court press at a high level at that size for big minutes. Bruce's teams don't really have 7+ historically

Given the bringing in of more proven GT PF/C, a future transfer PF, Mcelmore in addition to Spencer plus a now 6'8 Purifoy there isn't going to be a ton of time in game 5o develop.
That's before you consider bringing in a guy like Wiley and a PF#2

I like him if we have an open roster spot but if we bring in a talented player with experience playing well, i don't have an issue with the tradeoff

Slim Charles just posted that Dylan Smith from U NC Ashville is transferring.

He'd sit out but he stats wise was arguably the best kid on his team as a FR

Kids from Hoover originally. Said he wants an instate offer from AU, UAt, or UAB and would listen to any of us.

6'5" 170
Led UNC-Asheville to the NCAAT with 13.5 ppg. Scored 14 on Texas A&M and Villanova

I was going to ask last night if we even still have room for him. I thought I remember reading a while back that we had 3 GT spots. Since one of our 3 transfers isn't a GT and neither is Smith, could we still take him?

Reed still has a chance to stay eligible(he needs a good bit of hours to meet the academic progress requirements) so until that is cleared up we won't really know if we have any spots available. Just a guess but if Pearl really likes him I would think we would go ahead and give him an offer and sort everything out later.

Really seemed like Reed was making progress. Must have failed some classes.

They were counting on him playing a substantial role..

Have you even met depth before? Was the transfer sitting on the bench or the true freshman, going to take all his minutes? Reed may have been our starting center. And just because someone grows to be 6'8, doesn't make them a post player. Not sure if you played ball or not..

Here's what I know, we can make 7'2 fit in some capacity. Even if it's just to get a late game rebound.

In no way is this true. No writer ahs reported that and Bruce/coaches have never said it. People like me have hoped he would but he has always been a massive project

With Horace Spencer plus looking for a GT big for a long time, clearly he couldn't have had that big of a role in Bruce's plans for 2016

The replacement for that scholarship likely is a more game ready big. So this argument works in favor of cutting ties with the project

Wow, great argument bro. Especially when you don't know wtf you are talking about.

Purifoy would play a stretch 4 when in the post. Offensively, he would be closer to a wing and yes defensively he would play more post up D. The positive is that in a full court press Purifoy wouldn't be playing posession after possession as a post defender.

Bruce has a track record of looking for stretch 4s, both Tyler and Tobias Harris fit that description
