I'm not confusing them at all. Like GenesChin said, we're just looking at a log jam between 2 positions. If he's a true post player and is going to be at the 5 most of the time that's one thing, but if he's moving out to the 4 it creates issues numbers wise. It if looked more like this I could see it:

1: Harper-20, GT1-15, Mitchell-5
2: Brown-20, GT1-5, GT2-5, Mitchell-5
3: Heron-20, GT2-15, Okeke-5
4: Purifoy-20, Spencer-10, McLemore-5, Okeke-5
5: Wiley-20, Murray-15, McLemore-5

Edit: Also, I hate that LaRon isn't getting any minutes anymore. If nothing else, the comedic relief of his FT shooting is needed during some of our spurts if poor play

We aren't getting two GT guards. Just isn't happening. At least not ones good enough to play 15+min

We'd be lucky to get another one like Ronnie Kohnson

I don't think it happens either, but that's what would happen ideally. We'll probably end up taking a HS guy who will have to play when he isn't nearly ready and not develop because of it.

That's what I want and think we need, but it is hard to get a good gt without an open spot in the starting line-up at the position.

The thing Pearl can pitch (and back up) more than most is how much he rotates. The one position a guy might come in at is SG if he thinks he can displace Brown.

Playing time isn't the only issue, most decent GTs are looking to punch a ticket to the NCAAT. To not be able to guarantee a starting spot AND not be a surefire NCAAT team is a tough sell

We only need one GT combo guard and/or PG. I don't think we bring in a HS kid unless we really need him. Worst case JUCO > HS if the pickings are that slim

I don't disagree with this, but the expectation next season is going to be the NCAAT.

Like I said earlier, I agree with this. I hadn't even paid that much attention to bball recruiting because I never thought filling out the roster would be an issue under Pearl. Obviously I was mistaken

Edit: It's not necessarily his fault, but damn it's so frustrating not to have some stability.

From our end sure but not by general public unless we finish strong this year. We likely will be projected bubble at best by the non AU public sans some big run to end the season

I mean, we've only had one full recruiting cycle of Pearl able to recruit thus far. Even so, we aren't in some horrible spot if we slide Heron to the 2 for some minutes and Purifoy/Okeke to 3.

I get the recruiting cycle thing, but it just feels like Barbee all over again seeing multiple guys transferring out again this year. If they were doing it to make room for more talented guys coming in that would be one thing, but they're leaving holes on the roster. Again, it's not necessarily Pearl's fault, but damn it sucks.

Also, I don't know how our effectiveness in running Pearl's system will improve if we have minutes breakdown like you mentioned earlier:
quote:

1- Harper 30/ Mitchell 10
2- Brown 30/ Heron 10
3- Heron 20/ Purifoy 15/Okeke 5
4- Purifoy 15/Murray/15/Spencer 10
5- Wiley 20/McElmore 15/Spencer 5
Yea, they'll have more experience, but our starters won't be able to press, play high energy defense, and run the offense effectively if they're going for 30 mpg

We almost for sure aren't having "multiple guys" transfer out. The only plausible case is Lang who doesn't even play , everyone else would be very unexpected

quote:

but our starters won't be able to press,

We want the press but truth be told you can't run it as a base D in today's game even if you have the depth.

Aggressive pressing requires you to trap to be successful. Refs don't allow that today with this whistle happy bullshite

Pearl ran his best players at TN for 30mpg. They pressed more than we ever did and ran the O well

Post players are the ones to worry about and we easily get them enough rest. Guards should be able to easily handle 25-30m per game. We probably bring in a GT or another guard anyways

MJ Walker is the only other 2017 high school player that we are after and is somewhat interested in us too. I can't get a read for where exactly we stand with him though. That usually means they are leaning elsewhere but I'll mention him anyway.

Me too which is why I'm pretty sure he isn't coming here. Just seems like if we were anything other than a name being thrown in there would be some type of buzz around him. I could be wrong but that's where I'm at now with him.

I mean I doubt we have a real shot but There is no good info on Walker out there. Outside of his OV to FSU, he hadn't set any officials and still has a monster list of interested schools.

His mom said she wants him close to home but he claims to be okay leaving.

How are we looking with Khavon Moore? Does anybody other than you know what's going on with recruiting? I swear everyday I'm reading about new commitments. I'm reading zilch about Auburn. Are we just waiting to get a juco later?

Moore is our #1 priority right now and we definitely have a good shot at him. As far as 2017 goes unless we add the Euro kid I think we will be going the grad transfer route again so we won't hear any names until season's start ending.

Both Moore and MJ Walker play for the ATL Under Armour AAU team right?

When is UA going to start pulling their weight to help our program? Clearly UCLA got into the mix out of no where right after they signed with UA
