I hope we can take 2 more. Bruce will be selective and find another grad transfer if he can't find the HS guy he likes.

We need a grad transfer or juco pg to provide some depth. Ronnie Johnson has filed his role perfectly. Without him and Dunans, we only have Harper and an incoming true freshmen to bring the ball up and initiate the offense. I would feel better with a veteran guy we could rely on off the bench.

I don't know if we will be able to find a quality veteran to come in with an established PG in place. We may be able to find a combo guard similar to Dunans who can handle the 1 in a pinch

I hope if we have an assistant spot open up we hire someone who can recruit NY really well.

A ton of guys come from NYC that are criminally underrated

It's not like the true freshman is some nobody slouch. Davion Mitchell is on the borderline of becoming a five star. Harper was barely in the top 100 and he's been a huge spark for us and one of our most consistent players all year. As good as Harper has been, he's gonna have to work to keep his job with somebody as talented as Mitchell coming in

If we get a grad transfer I'd like to see a 7 footer

I have zero interest in any 7FT player Auburn would have a chance of landing in the GT market

Unless we can get a guy like Lauri playing at Zona, they are a waste on our roster

We could have/still could use a guy like Canyon Berry to play the 2. Great shooter, veteran perimeter player

Next year we are very thin at SG

1 - Harper, Mitchell
2 - Heron, Brown
3 - Purifoy, Okeke
4 - Spencer, Murray
5 - Wiley, McLemore

another shooter at guard would definitely be nice (especially if Brown doesnt regain his confidence)... but at the same time it'd be nice to have more size behind Wiley at C even though McLemore's skillset fits the spot nice.

We have enough spots to make both happen. What is it, 13 scholarships in basketball? Any idea who we're still looking at from the HS ranks or who may be on the grad transfer market?

Puifoy and Okeke are 4s in Bruce's system.

Well bud, why dont you take that up with Bruce for over recruiting the 4 instead of with me. Somebody has to play the 3.

Since you know better than me, how do you think the lineup will look next year?

I'm just stating facts man, no reason to jump down my throat

I'm not saying I have the answer. I have no clue how this shakes out, but based on our roster right now, maybe this:
quote:

1 - Harper, Mitchell, GT1
2 - Brown, Lang, GT1
3 - Heron, Lang, GT2
4 - Purifoy, Okeke, Murray
5 - Wiley, McLemore, Spencer

I wasn't jumping down your throat, I just actually thought it sounded like you knew better than me. I'm not nearly as up on basketball as I am on football. I can't usually look at the court and recognize formations and plays like some of yall can, or like I can with football.

I forgot about Lang tbh. I've heard rumors of him transferring too.

And if we take 3 grad transfers that seems like a problem to me. Just for continuity on the roster I'd think we need at least one more HS kid.

I apologize, it's just been a hellish week. I'm very much in need of a few beers and some time to relax

First, GenesChin, Smoke, and a few others are WAY more knowledgable about this stuff than I am, but I'll take a stab at it. I've heard the rumors too. I kind of expect it, but until we hear for sure I'm going to assume he'll be here. Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked to see Spencer or McLemore (way less likely) transfer. I just don't know how we're going to get all of our 4/5s playing time unless someone transfers, transitions to the 3, or is cool with just chilling on the bench.

The problem with just taking a HS kid is that most of them who are worth anything are signed somewhere at this point. They'll be a massive project and pretty unlikely to contribute next season. I have no idea how the juco ranks look, but we may go that route if we're just desperate for a body. I just don't want to see us start taking projects only to process them.

Lang has been more speculated since he isn't playing and hasn't shown any promise of beating out guys in the future. Probably a good bet from reading between the lines

The only other guy that would transfer for playing time is Spencer. I don't see it happening, but that would likely be him wanting more minutes

I agree 100% on Lang. I just don't know what we're going to do depth chart wise if it happens.

As far as Spencer, I just think there's going to be an odd man out between all of the 4/5s. Too many bodies for too many minutes. To me, taking Murray was a mistake.

I disagree, I think Murray is going to be a good version of Cinmeon Bowers. He shoots a high percentage around the rim, rebounds well and has potential to extend game beyond post if he is developing well.

It really is too bad he couldn't RS last year. I think he could have been a good 4 for us, we just had no choice but to throw him at 5 and he never developed the game from the 4

Murray could end up being a great player, but as of now he hasn't contributed at all. I'll happily eat crow if he's a productive guy. I just hate to think a guy like Spencer, who has played hard for us the last two years, might end up being forced out because of a lack of minutes.

One scenrio may be Lang sticking around for another year if he's on track to graduate early and likes Auburn, then being a grad transfer next offseason if we see an influx in talent in the back court. Pearl definitely has a lot of work to do recruiting wise though.

I don't think Spencer will be forced out. I don't think Okeke plays >5-10mpg and I also think we are likely to let a 4 play some 3 as well since we need to fill the 2/3

1- Harper 30/ Mitchell 10
2- Brown 30/ Heron 10
3- Heron 20/ Purifoy 15/Okeke 5
4- Purifoy 15/Murray/15/Spencer 10
5- Wiley 20/McElmore 15/Spencer 5
