Big weekend for AU. The following will be visiting and all of this is from JLee at Rivals and all #'s are NATIONAL rankings:
2017:
Ikey Obiagu - #74 - C LINK
Chuma Okeke - #55 - PF - Commit LINK
Garrison Brooks - #127 - PF (Official visit and expect him to be ranked higher after the next round of evauluations) LINK
2018:
Khavon Moore - #8 - SF LINK - Somewhat important to note that UK is on this kid hard.
EJ Montgomery - #9 - PF - Obviously recent AU Commit LINK
Jamie Lewis - #50 - PG LINK
Trey Jemison - #105 - PF - From Homewood LINK
2018:
Kobe Brown - #50 - F - Huntsville guy LINK
Jared Jones - 4* LINK - EDIT: Eric Bossi said he would not be surprised to see this guy pull the trigger this weekend. According to future150 he is a top 10 player for 2019.
Anthony Edwards NR - LINK
Guys this is INSANE. There's nothing special going on this weekend for the basketball recruits they're just coming to be here. This is something that bluebloods have going on, we are truly not worthy of what Bruce is doing. Get ready to name the arena Pearl's Palace

The future of the basketball program is bright. BP has done good things everywhere he has been. He's getting the kind of talent that will put us among the nations elite. Plus, we know he can coach'em up too!

Eric Bossi: Frequent unofficial visitor Jared Jones, a 2019 F -- as we've been hinting would happen -- has committed to Auburn. Big, strong and athletic kid with upside. Another very good Atlanta area pull for Bruce Pearl and his bunch.
Had offers from North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Florida, FSU, Wake Forest, GA Tech among others.
Some Links:
Future 150 has him ranked at #12 Nationally: LINK
24/7: LINK
Rivals: LINK
Looks like a guy who could really improve his ranking (on 24/7 and Rivals.) Only a Sophomore and already 6'9 230. Bruce keeps on rolling

Regular preseason practices start tomorrow. I really think we have a chance to make some noise this year and become relevant nationally.

So what's the starting 5 projected to be?
Johnson
Brown
Heron
Purifoy
Spencer
Is my early guess though I could see Dunans or Smith in there as well. I don't think I have been this excited to see guys like heron and purifoy play ever when it comes to au basketball. Our schedule is ridiculous but I think this is the team that starts the climb

Just for the fun of it I looked at our non conference opponent records from last season
North Florida 22-10 (Lost to Florida in 1st round of NIT)
Georgia State 16-14
Eastern Kentucky 15-16
Texas Tech 19-13 (#8 seed lost to Butler in 1st round of NCAA)
Purdue 26-9 (#5 seed upset by Little Rock in 1st round of NCAA)
Utah State 16-15
USC Upstate 10-22
UAB 26-7 (Lost to BYU in 1st round of NIT)
Boston College 7-25 (LOL)
Coastal Carolina 21-12 (Lost to UC Irvine in semifinal of CIT)
Mercer 19-15 (Lost to Coastal Carolina in semifinal of CIT)
Oklahoma 24-6 (#2 seed lost to Villanova in Final Four)
UCONN 25-11 (#9 lost to Kansas in 2nd round of NCAA)
TCU 12-21
That's only 3 teams with a losing record the year before, 8 postseason teams with 3 of them being in the NCAA & one reaching the final four. Obviously previous season success doesn't mean same success the next season and some of these teams might not have the same talent as last year but that is still a lot of high quality opponents on the schedule.
Personally I am feeling bold and saying 10-3 with losses to Purdue, Oklahoma & UCONN but the safer bet is probably 9-4 where we drop one we shouldn't. Looking historically at teams that finish #4-5 in the SEC where Pearl expects this team that would put us with a 10-8 to 11-7 record. So that would be range of 21-10 to 19-12. It feels insane to type either of those records out seeing we haven't had a winning season since 2008...
Just hope these guys can live up to the hype and we can start seeing some results on the hardwood this year. Because if we can win 18-20 games this season that's gonna set the stage big time for 2017 with that class

I'm not sold that we drop all of these. Oklahoma in particular is a shell of their 15-16 team while Purdue&UConn should beat us up.

Has a school ever fully transitioned from being a football school to basketball? Maybe we could be the first.
This is really excited news to see, and it speaks to Bruce's commitment to the school to be planning this far ahead.

Jay Jacobs is giving us a well balanced Athletic Program.
Basketball is back
Baseball is recruiting well. We have a nonPOS as a coach too.
Softball is great
Football is pulling in from the caboose.

Not so fast. I still need to see this talent yield some success on the court before I declare that it's back.
