I don't know about y'all but I absolutely love how Anfernee is taking complete advantage of his extended play w/ Wiley out. I love it.

Bruce said that a lot of these pro teams have players on vacation/leave and don't play in these exhibitions. May be why we just hammer them

Or we could be going 40-0. Who knows

Defense is playing well it seems. Shooting % hasn't been phenomenal, so I definitely think the competition level has something to do with it.

Our shooting%?

Bryce Brown is shooting lights out I hear, but keep in mind they are using a FIBA ball which is slightly different

Yea, Bryce has been lights out. I think in the last game we are like 47% from the field and 9/30 from 3pt. Not awful, but would definitely like that to be better.

I think they are a little lighter and have a slicker finish.

By halftime the Tigers were on top 60-22 with Bryce Brown leading the charge. The junior guard made 4-5 threes in the half while scoring 16 points as the team hit 8-13 threes and 14-14 free throws.

Chuma Okeke had 20 boards and 3 consecutive double doubles. They say he has a knack for knowing where the ball is going to come off the rim and is almost always in position to contest for a rebound.

His natural instincts, along with his wingspan allows him to at least get his hands on a lot of boards. Even if he doesn't retain it himself, he mucks it up enough for others who are crashing to get it too. Okeke has a certain awareness that just can not be coached. Either you have it or you don't.

They obviously saw my post about their shooting efficiency from the first 3 games and decided to step it up. You're welcome everybody.

Auburn 104 vs. 58 Italy All Stars

Opponent

-Italy All Stars
Players are taken from Series 2 (Italian 2nd tier league) to form an "All Star" team. I imagine, it isn't a true 'all star' lineup though.

-Lost to Kansas 118-74

Player Notes

-Chuma Okeke - 10pts 20 reb, 4 asst, 4 blocks
-Mustapha Heron - 21pts
-Bryce Brown - 20pts, 5/9 3FG, 6reb, 5 stl
-Malik Dunbar - 15pts
-D. Murray - 8pts
-Purifoy - 7pts
-McLemore - 7pts, 6reb, 3block

Bruce's Corner

quote:

"This was our best effort," Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said. "I was concerned, fourth game in eight days. We traveled four hours in the bus today after playing late last night. We played a better team from Milan with some good pros, and our guys played terrific. They shared the ball. They played awfully hard, and we got a lot better this week.

Purifoy went 16-16 from the line on this trip.

We may have a team that finishes D1 average in FT or better this year

The team was 14-14 FT's at halftime.

I'm overreacting. I can't believe I'm this excited for basketball season and football season hasn't even started

This.

Certain guys just know where the ball is going to be, and get there.

Had a good friend who played at UCF for Joe Dean Jr. until he bounced, and then he led NAIA in scoring for two years.

But he was always standing about where the rebounds came off the rim! It was uncanny!

Bryce towards the end of last season got pretty good at sneaking into the lane for offensive rebounds

You know, when he'd go for the putback slam and miss the dunk
