Truth from PAM - The president holds the key
Will Auburn hire a visionary president who sees the importance for the entire university of championship-level athletics or one who, like current president Jay Gogue, quotes a former president saying 7-3 is the best record because it keeps alumni happy and the coach doesn’t think he runs the university?
-- Will the decision-makers at Auburn – and no one person can do it alone – come to understand that to compete at the highest level consistently you have to make the same commitment that others who do it make? Auburn does that in most areas, but its facilities have fallen behind the upper echelon. Is anyone committed to changing that?

That is not an uncommon type statement from academia types. PAM does have access, so I believe it is true.
Please do not burn his house down, it is University property and is being remodeled for the next Prez.
At Bama athletics is king, the university accepts that and wanted to grow. Gogue had a different opinion, no growth or very slow growth.

In short, gogue valued the quality of students over quantity (unlike UAT). I have no problem with this approach... Will be interesting to see what happens moving forward.
