2015
Montravius Adams 44 tackles 3.0 TFL 2.5 sacks 6 QBH
Carl Lawson 17 tackles 3.0 TFL 1.0 sacks 11 QBH

2016
Montravius Adams 13 tackles 3.0 TFL 1.5 sacks 6 QBH
Carl Lawson 9 tackles 3.0 TFL 3.0 sacks 8 QBH

Through 4 games these 2 guys have almost matched much of their production from all of last year. It's taken longer than we have wanted but these 2 are finally playing at the level we hoped back in 2013 & it's been fun to watch

On a side note watch out for Andrew Williams. He has 4 tackles this year but half of them are TFL & he has a sack. His playing time has gone up over the past few games as well

Monty was a scary dude Saturday night.

He keeps it up, he's making himself lots of dough.

Last year, Monty was double teamed nearly every play since he was the only DL who looked halfway decent.

Nice to see him taking advantage of the opportunities this uear

yep. Monty has been an absolute animal in the middle the past few weeks. He is soooo damn fast off the snap. His initial burst and punch really is something to behold.

That's why having Lawson healthy has been so important. Also the emergence of Marlon Davidson has made it hard for any team to double team both Lawson & Adams. I am excited about our production up front but I am also excited about the future. We lost Adams & Lawson this year but Andrew Williams is coming along, Jeff Holland is showing some good moves, Derrick Brown is getting better each week & Marlon is only a freshman.

Jeff Holland

Both of Lawson's sacks Saturday were because of Holland. He needs to learn a little more control when flying in for the QB, and he'll be a 1st rounder.

Wanted to bump this thread with updated numbers

Montravius Adams - 22 tackles 6.0 TFL 3.0 sacks 10 QBH
Carl Lawson - 17 tackles 8 TFL 6.5 sacks 18 QBH

With the same amount of tackles as last season Lawson has generated 7 more QB hurries & 5.5 more sacks. Adams also with half the tackles has doubled his TFL along with more QB hurries & sacks. It's crazy the difference in disruptive production these guys are having this season

Also Andrew Williams continues to impress, look at these numbers for what was a 3rd string DT to start the season:
9 tackles 3.0 TFL 3.0 sacks QBH

Are we sure Carl Lawson doesn't have 7 sacks? That's just what it has on SEC Sports.

In Lawson's defense last year, he not only was playing injured but his 6.5 games matched up him up against 3 NFL draft picks + 1 future [Laremy Tunsil (RD1), Germain Ifedi (RD1), Cam Robinson (projected RD1), John Theus (RD5) ]

We need to make mental note/reminders for this DL.

We look good the next two years, but it will not be possible to keep our level what it is.

True but he also had issues finishing last season. I remember him missing at least 3 sacks with 2 against Ole Miss & that one against Bama. The last step he needed to take was getting back to finishing these plays & he has done that this year & you can see it in the numbers

You know you're having a bad year when a missed sack ends up on your opponent's highlight reel.

I didn't mean to make it out to be "Lawson was just as good" just saying that the gap probably shouldn't be quite as big

The increase in their production is due to the fact that everyone is playing without serious injuries. I don't think Lawson fully recovered for most of the second half of the season, but he was needed on the field. More stats to look at as well is rest of DL and even the LBs. The fact that the DL is doing their job, makes it easier to see the LBs make a bigger impact. Last season, we all cussed up a storm about how poor the LB play was, but this season Deshaun Davis, Darrell Williams and Tre Williams have looked amazing. It is hard to believe that 2 sophomores and 1 junior LB looked better than 2 senior LBs.

If Cowart keeps playing like he did on Saturday, you will need to add him to that list.
