I'll preface this by saying I'm an older AU student (28), and married.

But my wife and I were wondering when did it become the norm for girls to wear workout shorts and oversized t-shirts everyday? I swear, every girl looks the same, like they're headed to the gym. Is this a "frick the system" type thing? For comfort only? It's so rare to see a girl in normal clothes. Please shed light on this phenomenon for us.

Yeah 2007 is close to the genesis of it. I agree it's a very meh look.

I left right around 2007, but to some extent the umbro and t shirt look was happening for a while. But I was on UGA's campus today and noticed it looks even more uniform than it did back then.

Norts became popular right around the time that sororities started favoring oversized t-shirts. There was a while when this was a year-round trend. They'd wear them with leggings and ugg boots. Can't tell you if that still happens or not.

Wasn't my favorite look.

That article caused an uproar for no reason. She has valid points and it was all the try hards that complained.

As far as the girls though, they realized that they could make doing very little to get ready for class fashionable. It was smart

Sure, it's easy, but I'm glad I'm not looking for a girl here. Zero effort and zero separation isn't attractive to me. I need some individuality and effort.

Thanks for the help guys, although it's still hard for me to comprehend the guys dress better than the girls.

Beats the pajama shite they wore during my time 97-01. It was annoying as shite. It is like they just rolled out of bed.

My freshman year it didn't bother me but now I honestly can't stand the lack of caring that goes into people's dress anymore. I'll wear a t-shirt to class but it's going to be ironed and you will never catch me in gym shorts, sweats or anything other than khaki shorts, khaki pants, or jeans on campus

It's awful and needs to stop

Chacos

I love my pair. Can pretty much wear them anywhere and for game day I can stand up for extended periods of time without my feet hurting and I don't have to worry about drink spilling in the stands and getting on my shoes or anything like that

Dude I wear gym shorts and t shirt out sometimes as an 29 yr old. Comfortable. Don't care not trying to impress. In certain/proper situations, nice clothes will be worn. But will not wear nice clothes if It doesn't really call for it.

I keep seeing mention of Chacos as a novel concept on this board as if they were brand new. I still have a pair from when I wore them back in 2002. What's happened since then? I don't keep up with fashion trends

Class and any public outing calls for it in my opinion but I don't care what other men wear so go for it
