KN apparently was gonna flip CB to FSU soon on him so sounds like we went from 1st to 3rd...
Thought for once we were gonna land top instate CB. Silly me...

KN put up a post explaining his Armour-Davis coverage and what he thinks is going on. Says that he felt very confident in AU when he put in his CB pick this past February. He said that every source he spoke to said it was a clear AU/FSU battle. KN says when he spoke with him this past month, it didn't really seem like he was that interested in Bama despite adding them back to his top group. Apparently recently he's thought about flipping his CB pick to FSU because the Noles had gotten real confident. Now after talking to sources again not at all confident in Auburn's chances. Armour-Davis is close with Travis Williams but apparently doesn't speak a ton with Greg Brown. Now with an announcement coming out of nowhere it doesn't look good for AU.
He decided to change his pick to foggy but then decided to pick Bama considering how confident the Bama side is now that hard to ignore that. Only silver lining is Armour-Davis does plan to take his official visits and AU should get one. Moving forward CB targets to watch are 3* Juanyeh Thomas and 4* Jordan Miner. Says AU might push for a commit next weekend from Thomas. All in all says this recruitment has been difficult to read and apologizes for not having a great handle on it

I'm sure Ross will be next. Different year, same verse.
Can we just stop wasting our time at St. Paul's?

we need to add another dynamic recruiter. With our DC being awesome as a DC but a bit of a liability on the trail, and the OC not really being known as a master recruiter either, we need to add some firepower on the trail.
Winning will certainly cure MOST of the recruiting downturn, but we are hearing a lot of "Auburn is in good shape, however if XXXX offers things could change", insinuating we're just the best offer at the tier below the top recruiting schools right now.
Like I said, I think if we have a big year on the field the recruiting takes care of itself. But I'd like to hire another recruiter or two.

Which is weird because he has a track record as a good recruiter

I don't think it is just a "dynamic recruiter" problem. We have a lot of supposedly good to great recruiters and still in this spot

So what would your explanation be?
Do you think it is a combo of Gus being continuously on the hot-seat/stability issues and negative recruiting?
Or just not being in the spotlight or in the running for National titles?

No idea
I just find it hard to believe we are a dynamic recruiter away from truly elite recruiting classes. We definitely have a good staff for recruiting. Other than Greg Brown, all of our position coaches are "pretty good" recruiters at worst
-Tim Horton: Solid, not great but not bad
-Larry Porter: Supposed to be great recruiter
-Herb Hand: Good recruiter
-Rodney Garner: May be past his elite prime but he still very formidable
-TWill - Seems to be very good possibly a "dynamic" recruiter
-Kodi Burns: Hard to gauge right now but positive reports for this WR class
-Kevin Steele: Former Rivals Recruiter of the Year
-Greg Brown: Meh
-Chip Lindsay: Nothing special but has some connections in the south as a former HS coach

I think Garner needs a fire lit under his arse on the recruiting trail. He has underperformed for his position the past year and a half.
I know it isn't only his job to recruit DL and they have geographical territories they recruit, but they have some input.

When does he start getting results? When we hired him all LSU folks talked about what a great Cruiter he was.

KN says good chance Matthew Hill might make Big Cat Weekend next weekend. It was thought he wouldn't because of an Under Armour event. Apparently South Carolina has made a big push but Auburn still appears to be the leader. He just dropped a top 5 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU and South Carolina

Auburn running back signee Alaric Williams has not qualified academically and will head to junior college, AL.com has confirmed.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Williams has already signed papers with Garden City Community College in Kansas. He had been committed to Auburn since before his junior season and signed with the Tigers in February.
Despite missing more than half the season with a knee injury, Williams had 550 yards and seven touchdowns and earned second team all-state in Class 6A.
"Alaric is one of those players that could also play wideout for us, the slot position," AU running backs coach Tim Horton said earlier this spring. "He had a very productive high school career there at Southside-Gadsden, but he has good speed, has good vision, can break a tackle and make someone miss."
Auburn also signed Tampa, Fla., standout Devan Barrett in February to play running back.

Doesn't seem like it's shaping up to be anything special.

Really? Here's who KN has mentioned as expected attendees so far
4* WR Justyn Ross
4* OG Trey Hill
4* LB JJ Peterson
4* DT Coynis Milller
4* RB Asa Martin
4* WR Matthew Hill --> possibly
4* CB Kyler McMichael
4* S Quindarious Monday
4* LB Quay Walker
3* LB Michael Harris
3* ATH Richard Jibunor
3* S Joseph Foucha
3* WR Shedrick Jackson
3* S Jamien Sherwood
That seems like a pretty solid list so far. Chance Jacob Copeland and Andres Fox could visit as well

Miller tweeted that he might be committing sooner than he thought. Pretty sure he lands at Bama
