The fact that he had Cooper leading off to start the season is a good indicator that this team lacks hitting. Draper should be leading off, but isn't nearly consistent enough.

Realistically for baseball (based on your homer opinion)
What SEC teams are:
-For sure finishing above us
Florida
LSU
SCAR
Vandy
Ole Miss
State
Arky
-Likely above us but slim shot we can beat out
Kentucky
Tamu
Tennessee
-Slight better/ Slightly worse aka real competition
UGA
Bama
Mizzou
- Should finish below
Realistically, we should be in Hoover and a borderline regional team. So far we are playing much better than I thought and had seen in the fall. This can be attributed to 22 new faces. If we continue to look this good we could finish in the middle of the SEC.
I'll update the OP either later tonight or more likely early in the morning.

Pretty dramatic change of pace from last season, I hadn't kept up with who all stayed/left.

Well, Carosone cost them the championship, but there's nobody to replace her in the middle of the lineup.

What's the deal with the Ashlee Swindle chick from Curry? She committed and the media said she was the top recruit in the country because some publications named her national player of the year. Then the Taylor Snow chick committed and was the top recruit in the nation. Then I read an article from November about our softball signing class and it doesn't mention Ashlee Swindle at all. But somehow she's still on the roster and pitched yesterday somehow without being apart of the signing class, apparently.
And somehow we only had the #2 signing class despite apparently having 2 #1 recruits in the nation.
And on top of all that, while looking into our recruiting class I notice we signed a chick from a HS in Illinois that played with a travel ball team from Birmingham. Wtf? Softball recruiting is confusing

Probably would make a lot more sense if you knew that NSD for softball was in November. Article you read was for next years class, not the current FR
Swindle Enrolled in the fall of 2016 and a FR for this 2017 season
Snow is a HS senior and will enroll Fall 2017 for 2018 season

I really enjoy watching Dylan Ingram at the plate....really solid hitter. Needs more playing time but a really solid start for him....

Um I'm pretty sure Draper is leading the team in BA right now

Ashlee Swindle is a true freshman and played in mop up. coaches are easing her in.
One of the Snow girls is dealing with a illness the other is a SR in high school.
Darper is leading the team in batting but really struggles against good defensive team. We all know what she is going to do and so do the other team (like our football offense lol)Weak teams she a nightmare good teams hard to get on.
We are easing in a lot of true freshman time will tell on them.

Gotcha. Guess I got confused by the fact that Swindle committed/ signed in like May or June

She is. But when you have your catcher leading off, it says a lot. I don't know why Draper is still at the end of the lineup, but there has to be a reason. I would lead off the order with Draper, Fagan, Cooper, and Wallace. I think we just lack hitting this year, and Myers doesn't know what he has yet.

You don't want Draper drawing more ABs over the entire year than someone like Wallace or Cooper

They're not leadoff hitters... you want your best hitters up with no one on base, and trying to do too much? Draper will never be what Howard was, but they need someone to lead off.

Perhaps if we could get this thread stickied we would quit getting behind by 6 runs in our midweek games early.

I guess only three topics can be stickied at one time, and the one sport (softball) that has represented Auburn athletics well the past couple years doesn't deserve a sticky.

Rig said he'd pin it when the photoshop thread got taken down. Not sure why he chicken'd out

Down 6-0 climb back to 6-5. Headed to bottom of the 6th.

.1 innings 6 earned runs. He got into a lot of 3-1 counts and his split finger didn't have any bite on it today. You get killed at this level throwing a flat 90 MPH fastball on a 3-1 count. When Sprink has movement on his splitter at 90 he is tough to hit.

Well once again we lose to Samford... Comeback falls short, lose 7-6
