How does our recruiting look for next year?

Does not matter where we were picked, hell the 2013 Football team was picked dead last in SEC and won it. Should have won the natty. Thompson did a shitty job of managing.

So what did Thompson do wrong?

In the pivotal last inning, he had his BEST reliever trying to close it out. 2 outs, even with 1 runner on, I like our chances. CL was given the opportunity to close it out on his own. What more do you want? Sure, maybe he should of walked Busby...but then you put tying run on 2nd.

No reason to talk about the elimination game. We had no chance if we were not going to score even 1 run...

He did a shitty job of managing base runners, had numerous guys try to steal with 1 out get mowed down. Should have obviously walked Busby when the guy behind him was 0-4 in that game. He struck out after the Busby triple BTW. I mean any little league coach has that much sense. That is what makes it shitty.

I shudder to think what our pitching staff looks like without KT or Mize.

Hope we are doing well on the recruiting trail or next year is going to be rough.a

And by the way, great great job to those two for great pitching performances to put us in position to win the regional.

I thought of those options too. But i have seen this even in big leagues. We don't know what interactions the pitcher is having with BT. There are reasons, we don't know, in game, that at that moment, or with that batter. Maybe the coach told him 'don't give him anything good to hit..if we walk him..we walk him..'. it was 3-2..and CL gave him too good of a pitch.

So, yes, it is playing roulette, when you have to make decisions. Some work out..some don't.

We had a good season in baseball this year, much better than was expected given our talent. Thompson clearly has areas he needs to improve, which isn't surprising for a guy finishing his 2nd year as HC

You win games you should lose and lose games you should win. It's why we play the game. It was a good season and we should be happy overall despite the disappointing ending

Some people will never be happy. Unrealistic expectations ruin the fun for many and that's a shame

It does look like the baseball team is headed in the right direction. If we can get some more pitching depth, from A to Z, we could become very dangerous.

This team could absolutely have won the Super regional they would have hosted against Sam Houston State.

They have 2 and Q written all over them for Omaha though. Maybe KT or Mize could have pitched a gem and won a game, but the bats were obviously not good enough this year.

Still, to just have gone to Omaha would have been incredible. Oh well, no sense crying over spilled milk.

Still pulling hard for Sam Houston State over FSU though.

Nothing like loving some mediocrity on the AU message board.

Finishing the regular season in the Top 25 isn't mediocrity. But continue with your narrative

We were picked dead last in the SEC and ended up in a regional and 1 out away from super regional. If you can't see that as a major improvement and program going in the right direction than there's no help for you. It's possible to be disappointed in this past weekend's result but still understand that the program is getting better
