Travion Leonard

LINK

Coaches have had him high on the board for a long time apparently

And he's a 3 star not a 2 star

Salvatore Cannela's film is darn impressive. If we land him and don't utilize him I'm going to be pissed

Can someone explain how Stidham affects our rankings. Is he ranked since he didn't play JUCO ball?

His junior highlights are really good. All highlights are good, though. Plays mostly in man coverage in HS

Johnston could be a great fullback.

I saw a decent amount of zone in there. Showed some good awareness and reactions. Turned hips well to run with receivers. Physically, he looks more than adequate. I'd be fine with adding him to the class

Maybe. He's very athletic. You get his amount of tackle #'s from elite instincts. I wonder if he has hit his ceiling though. I think that's what happened with Holland

South Florida DBs have been working out for us lately so I'll take him.

I had the same thought as well... like another mobile area high school linebacker who's an NFL FB now.

Call Ferentz and ask him if he wants Johnston at LB or wants to switch him. If they want him as LB, that's good enough for me. Iowa isn't elite recruiters so they have to be elite scouters. They just had a LB as a Butkus finalist that was a 2* and ranked ~#2200 to Johnstons ~#700

Gus using his last in home visits on Narcisse, Ruiz and maybe Leatherwood

The Narcisse one will be interesting to monitor.

I had no doubt you would automatically use the lowest one. 3 star on composite

I have no doubt that if Johnston came out last year he'd be at auburn right now... he's a better prospect than Threat who came from the same school.

With that said, our LB recruiting is going in a different direction now... We're in on better/faster linebackers. We need speed to keep up with the direction the SEC offenses are going... Even the "pro-style" offenses in this league are running tons of motion/speed spread concepts. LSU is likely moving to a spread offense. Bama is basically running Malzahn's scheme on steroids.

In the BIG, for better or worse, speed isn't as critical.

Next week will be interesting on the trail. I have a feeling not a ton will happen for AU besides landing that 3* TE Salvatore Cannella but there's a chance it could be huge week. All these guys will announce/sign
5* OT Alex Leatherwood - less than 5% chance but a man has to believe
4* DE Isaiah Buggs - looks like he is headed to bama
4* WR Tarik Black - close battle with Michigan, Stidham commitment might help us with him
4* QB Lowell Narcisse - probably ends up at LSU but no OC there helps us
3* LB Monty Rice - AU/UGA battle with Dawgs the favorite
3* TE Salvatore Cannella - Tigers considered the leader

More than likely we only get Cannell but there's a chance next week could be a big if we land someone like Black, Rice or Narcisse

Isn't CJ Avery and Brandon Martin also announcing this upcoming week as well? A lot of names and news will be coming up. Players will be dropping like flies off our board and lesser players will be added. What a great time to be alive!!!!!!!!

Yeah I think we get him too. Wonder who is going to be our next late addition to our class that was unknown throughout most of the process. Prince Sammons comes to mind.
