Surely there has to be a point where the refs say "okay there's no chance of making this FG" and force you to punt. Otherwise you could be at your own 1 and exploit this by "attempting" a field goal and "miss" bad enough so the other team can't kick 6 it. It'd be impossible to gain a field position advantage.

Also, why don't more teams "attempt FGs" that are say 80 yards if it just gets placed at the opp 20

He may just have to get it to the endzone, which wouldn't be difficult for him.

I'm betting that is it.

Any way to find out the distances he has missed from?

Maxpreps doesn't really make it clear but it appears that at least 4-5 of his misses were 50+

Anybody think we still have a chance with Stidham? Lashlee seems secured and White will be back. If he can scramble a little and throw deep, good Lord we could be insane with this run game and KD & NCM. McClain could end up being a monster too.

Im guessing he is looking elsewhere though.

Joey Gatewood went to his first game in Jordan Hare. Loved it. Lashlee is like a father figure. Apparently Gatewood got more snaps Friday then he has been getting.

McKitty will likely flip from Oregon to somewhere closer to home. He's noticed we don't throw to the TE though. Also looking at FSU/Miami

All other recruits at the game yesterday we're impressed (obviously)

Auburn is in a strong position for OLB D'Andre Wilder of Miami, FL. His father lives in Atlanta and he's visited 3 times. He recently named Miami his leader but told 247 after the Arky game that he's "trying to get away from home". He's the number 25 OLB according to 247.

The question is where does he sit on our LB boars with only 2 spots left

Wilder is a Jeffrey Holland type DE/OLB and would fit into a pass rush category. Should be taking as many elite pass rushers as will come

Heads up we might be getting a 2018 commit today from 3* RB Shaun Shivers. Dude has some serious speed.

Also since people love to bash our QB recruits thought I would post Joey Gatewood's stats after being allowed to play more QB last week. This is from KN

quote:

He was 9 of 12 passing for 77 yards, rushed 11 times for 117 yards, caught four passes for 41 yards and returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

He has only 15 passes all season thru 7 games BEFORE last week.

I'm not super worried about Gatewood throwing right now, but having 12 passes for 77yards isn't really proving the haters wrong
