Nobody is going to argue that. 2003 was by far Tubs worst coaching job. However, he proceeded to win 33 games over the next 3 seasons.

Gus was every bit as disappointing last year, are you going to hold that over his head forever and disregard everything else he may do for Auburn?

You're right.

Sorry for criticizing your Dad who is beyond reproach, Tucker.

At his high point Tubbs was great!

Hopefully Malzahn will start hitting his high point and maintaining it soon. There seems to be way too much pissing about in this thread. Florida and Georgia seem to be where we get our big recruits and it is still way early to be bemoaning recruiting...

Right now Kentucky and Duke are in the top 10 according to 247... maybe we should pump the brakes a little. Good product on the field this year is arguably much more important than April standings.

Just my two cents ... that and another dollar and twenty three cents will get you a coke.

Count me as one who won't be overly disappointed if Rochester picks uga.

(Hear me out before you contact the authorities)

He does not possess the ceiling that I believe others do. His demeanor is not that of a 'big nasty'. He is very passive. Has played along side other Elite talent, and yet he still hasn't ever taken over games like someone with his size/potential should. I think his ranking is skewed due to his size, and the school at which he plays. He may prove me wrong, but I see a guy capable of being a solid SEC DT, but not a dominant one.

I like Jackson, Brown (not Jackson Browne), and even Williams better. You can add Davidson as well, since he may wind up at DT.

I know that everyone is going to say that I am crazy, and they might be right, but not about this topic.

You are crazy and....I 100% agree w/ you here. Given his size & skill set he plays soft IMO. He just doesn't seem hungry on the field. I will say this though. If he gets hungry on the field & develops a high motor he could be devastating given his size & skill set.

I wouldn't mind starting a trend of recruiting bigger DEs/tweeners for DT. I am really excited about Elijah Daniel/Andrew Williams/Davonte Lambert playing DT. With a DL containing a Buck, 275lb DE, ~285DT/DE , 310 DT.

I think that's fair to say. He's a passive dude. Needs to find a little more edge to him. But he's still an insanely talented piece of clay to mold. Now, would i prefer Brown over him, sure. But we're possibly missing out on both.

I do really, really, really like Williams and Marshall and believe that adding Antuwan Jackson and Marlon Davidson would make this a filthy DL class. I'd like one more true, plug and play DT, sure, but I will not be complaining if that is our DL class.

Just a quick look at cbstats.com (2008 was as far back as it goes):

2008 sacks - 21

2014 sacks - 21

2008 QB hurries - 49

2014 QB hurries - 85
I would imagine the increasing number of plays/game has a little bit to do with those numbers

I bet plays per game wasn't too different in those years, considering how many 3 and outs we had on offense.

I'm just seeing a trend in when we decide to comment on the weaknesses of a recruit.

In state 2017 4* DE Ryan Johnson LINK
quote:

My parents loved it," Johnson said. "It was a really great experience, a great day and I loved it, but my parents might have loved it more than I did. They loved the atmosphere and the campus. They loved everything about it. They loved the place."

"My parents loved the coaches and what type of people the coaches are," Johnson said, "How they treat their players and their parents and also how they treat the game. My parents really liked the coaches."

"I really like Coach Muschamp. He's a very likeable guy and a really good coach," Johnson said. "I love the defensive schemes that he runs and the different things he does with his defenses. I also like how he treats the players and the other coaches. He's just a really good guy."

"He gets fired up a lot, interacts with the players," Johnson said. "He's the kind of coach I'd like to play for. I've seen what he can do with guys like Dante Fowler and others, and that would make me work harder because I know he can get me to that level."

"(Defensive lineman) Montravius Adams was very good, and so was (linebacker) Tre Williams, who went to St. Paul's, too," Johnson said. "I thought Tre had a great game. He's a great player and a great person for me to talk to about recruiting and about Auburn."

"I talked to him a little during drills and again after the game," Johnson said. "He has told me he loves the coaches, that they are very good coaches, they know what they are doing and they can prepare me for the NFL."

"It was just a great day," Johnson said. "Auburn is definitely up there. My top schools are the four that have offered: Auburn, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Duke.

"I love the atmosphere at Auburn, the coaches and the great defenses they run. I also love the campus, facilities and school, just everything about it. It's a great school."

"It's still early," he said. "I'm going to take my time, but I really enjoyed my visit to Auburn and so did my parents. I'll probably be back in the fall for a game or two."

This circle-jerk is hitting beyond absurd levels.

What did I say that was so "mean" to you in my last post? Once again you are repeating something that has zero factual proof to back it, and once again you have zero response to my counter-argument, so lets go and and pretend that I'm being a bully instead LOL.

Apparently now it takes all the way until summer to evaluate a "quality Tackle prospect"? What? At this time last year we had 3 linemen (one a Tackle!) already committed, 4 if you count Tyler Carr who technically didn't commit until June but was already "evaluated" and had the staff literally just waiting around for his official announcement since everyone knew he was going to Auburn.

We had no problem "evaluating" linemen last year, and please don't try and argue that there is somehow this giant difference between evaluating "quality tackles" versus interior linemen. Better yet, if it takes until summer to evaluate "quality tackles", how is everyone else in the SEC already doing it?

No, we've "evaluated" Tackles already. The problem is that a lot of them have either already committed elsewhere, or they are leaning heavily elsewhere. I'm sure we'll pull it together in the end, but the results so far have been pretty piss-poor for a school that needs OT's badly in this class, after taking only 1 last year, and all the while fielding strong performers on the field.

Rochester tested significantly better athletically than Derrick Brown at a Nike combine that they both attended, all the while being bigger. To state that his potential is "overrated is absurd; you can always teach a 17/18 year old to play with more intensity...you can't teach a 17/18 year old to be as big and athletic as Rochester is.

The way I see Rochester is simple: even if he never develops a "mean-streak" he should still be able to be a positive contributor due to his sheer physical ability. However, if he puts it all together you're talking about a future ~Top 10 pick. Not much downside there, literally.

So yes, it is pretty absurd to not be overly disappointed if he ends up at Georgia.
